Time off work after RNY

I went back in 2 weeks. I evened out my day with taking care of patients and doing paperwork. That way I got up and had short walks but rested too. My co-workers took care of any patients who needed physical assistance the first few weeks.

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!

I have a desk job, very intense and deadline oriented. I have short term disability. My surgeon gave me 8 weeks, when I returned to work my management team suggested I work 1/2 days for the first two weeks, then gradually build back up. I returned to work the 16th of November and I think last week was my first full time week back since surgery. I needed that time to re-orient myself back to my daily work schedules. I still find I'm wearing out more easily than I did prior to surgery.

As far as educating the boss about the "type" of surgery you are having. I did not tell anyone at work I was having WLS. I work in the health insurance industry therefore I felt it was my HIPAA rights to tell them I was having invasive surgery, but nothing more than that. Upon my return I have told my immediate Director, others suspect, some have asked. Those that ask me directly I answer directly, those that make snide remarks as they pass my desk will never know for sure they will have to continue to speculate
