OMG!
so.. I'm sitting at work.. and my cell starts to vibe.... "Unknown number" ....
It's the hospital.. I 1/2 thought they were calling to cancel - I'm not going to lie!
They called to tell me to be at admissions tomorrow at 7am! 7 AM!!! I THINK it might actually happen this time.
I just want to thank you all for your incredible support, I NEVER thought deciding to have WLS would introduce me to such and incredible bunch or super supportive people! I REALLY appreciate all the help and advise you have giving me!
I especially want to Thank Ada, you have been nothing but sweet to me, and I can't wait to join you on the losers bench!
Here's to ROCKING our sleeves!

Well if you are on a schedule of sorts self pay would be the way to go. Otherwise you're in for quite a wait. Good luck to you and keep us posted!

Funny there's not much chatter in the que forum. I'm acually thinking of doing self pay with Dr Gagner in the Belle province!

I'm a 16 year Canadian Forces member who has chosen to go ahead with WLS, after multipible deployments in Afghan, Dubai UAE and Haiti I'm finally in a static posting and am ready to make this change in my life. I'm wondering if any pre or post op Mil mbrs can share there experence and there timeframe.
I'm seriously considering self pay.
Any help would be great

Oh yes, sorry, I am registered with the hospital. The hospital did call me to confirm all my information.

That is weird. The hospital never called you to "register" you? I think they called me in the spring of 2011. I did my nutrition class in the summer of 2011.. I think it really depends on your surgeon and how many surgery's a week / month he is doing...
Not when you get the hospital card, just when they put ou "on file" / "on the waiting list" The dr's office sent them my file and the hospital called me after my 2nd or 3rd consult with Dr Denis and they completed my file and that was it... I know Dr Denis, when I first saw him Fall 2010 he said it was 12-18 months, then when I saw him in March when they had started doing at Rockland and he was doing surgery and extra day a week it was 9-12 months.. then when Rockland stopped, it was 18-24 months....
I REALLY hope you get your date soon!
I'm still in disbelief and won't believe it until I am on the table.. or better yet: waking up in recovery! LOL!

Hey Barbara - Thanks for responding. No, I haven't had my nutrition class yet. I emailed Martine a few months ago and was told I would probably be contacted in the fall. I email every few months...she just said the wait is even longer now...3 years instead of 2.5. That's it so far. No tests or nutrition class yet. Not registered at the hospital..is that when you get your card? Nothing at all so far. Its been 34 months on the waiting list. At this point, I'm not even thinking it will happen this year. I'm hoping for early 2013. Who knows...but I feel very ready!
On the positive side I'm looking forward to hearing all about your progress and learning from how things go for you! Coming up soon!
