Hi Kessey,

It was my understanding that none of the Sacré-Coeur surgeons operates at Rockland anymore. But your friend should call and double-check for sure! I think it must be a very recent change because when I called about 2 months ago, they gave me a waiting time for the day-surgery at Rockland, so...

Hi Monica,

sorry to hear about all this. Rockland MD no longer does the day surgery? Do you know since when and why? I got mine done in July and a friend of mine is also awaiting for the Rockland MD... I hope maybe they meant Dr.Atlas no longer does the VSG at the clinic...

May I suggest you verify with Martine if you can change surgeon? Dr. Garneau if that is the case? Or if they just no longer do the surgeries there than I would do the same thing and go private!!!

Jeez I am so sorry to hear about this...

Good afternoon dear OH friends,

I have just called the bariatric service at Sacré-Coeur to inquire about my position on the waiting list for the VSG with Dr Atlas and was informed that the wait is now at around 2.5 years. When I expressed my surprise - after all, when I met Dr Atlas in Oct. 2010 he'd told me 12 to 18 months for a day surgery at Rockland MD - I was further informed that they no longer operate at Rockland, which explains why the wait time has suddenly more than doubled.

I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news if there are others like myself who were hoping for a shorter wait with the day surgery. For my part, this call has finished to convince me that forking the money to have my VSG done outside of the public system is the way to go for me. I really can't see myself waiting another  20 months or so!

So, Dr Gagner, be prepared, on October 6 I'll be all yours!

Monica

Hi Ada,

Venting is always good, you need to get that frustration out! I would be quite upset too if they did that to me... I find it strange that they didnt get you to do all your tests the same day, as for the pneumologist I wasnt requested to do that... I find that depending on patients they add or lessen some tests!?! Should'nt it be standard? Anyhow, hang in there and I keep my fingers crossed for you to get your date soon!!!

Hi Aelwynn,

Doing pretty good - having a bit of a hard time sleeping at night - I'm a belly sleeper so it is taking a lot of getting used to sleeping on my back.

I remember you leaving really quickly and saying to myself - that woman must have had the sleeve or is just awesome at recovery from a DS!

I checked out Saturday morning and Kim (the other lady there checked out on Sunday - although she had a revision so it takes longer to recover usually.

Starting puréed food today - so far things are moving fine - just low energy. Need to get my protein up!

Take care,

Meta

Hi Meta,

We didn't meet, but I had the VSG with Dr. Gagner last Thursday. I know there were three if us that day. Since things went well with my VSG, I checked out on Friday and I'm leaving Montreal today (Tuesday). How are you doing?
