Topic: Advising Friends, Family & Eventually Workplace
Here's the deal... I haven't told my family members yet that I am on the VSG waiting list - I know I need & should but I keep holding it off until I actually hear a date and so forth.......
I think they will be very supportive but I know that my mother and son especially will be very worried. I am a single mother of 9 year old boy and I don't want him to be scared and I don't know how best to tell him.
HELP!!! (I also don't want the ENTIRE family to know, just my immediate family members - is that weird??)
In regards to my workplace, do you need to give them the type of surgery you are having when you request LOA or can you simply provide them with a doctor's note and a brief explanation of "am having surgery"? point finale???
Again, I don't know why, but I also am not wanting them to know the type of surgery I am having. I know they will ask questions once I start to melt down but with passed experiences, ONCE somebody knows you are dieting and so forth, you hear stupidities like - are you ALLOWED to eat that? How much have you lost? How did you do this week? and they will be WATCHING

Topic: Support Group
Hi All,
Not sure if everyone knows, but there is a non-profit English support group held every 3rd Wednesday of the month at the Ville St-Laurent Community Center. It was originally started by Dr. Christou's patients, but opened to anyone interested, had, or having WLS of any type. I've been going lately because I feel I need support myself. Having had the lap band, I know the "high" you get from the rapid weight loss and the downer you feel when the weight doesn't go down as quickly. I'm also trying to get back on track with great difficulty and work on the mental so that I will be better prepared when I have my sleeve.
Everything and anything is discussed in the meetings, struggling with emotional eating, exercise, etc. Sometimes there are even guest speakers. The meetings are free but a small donation to cover the cost of the room rental is at your discretion. The next meeting is August 17th from 7:00 - 9:00 pm. The address is 1375 Grenet, Ville St-Laurent.
If you want to get in touch with Jennifer who organizes the meetings, please let me know and I will e-mail you her address.
