Well if the sleeve goes in as smoothly as it did for Kess and I, I'm sure Garneau will do a marvelous job with you as well. Did you ask the secretary if Garneau had already done a revision from band to sleeve before. I bet it isn't too complicated but I'm no doctor so I don't know for sure. LOL

Thanks Derek! I have been talking with Kessey about it often. She is the one who gave me Dr Garneau's name.
Im a little nervous about the revision itself but not the sleeve specifically...the band has been rough to say the least.
Cheers!

Hi Kellie,
These are all legitimate questions and these are all questions we've had before. I am only 5 months out and I can eat anything and everything I can think of but only in moderation. I only take protein shakes in the morning so I get enough protein in on a daily basis as it is hard to hit 80-100 grams of protein a day with just food. 1 month out, I was able to eat 3-4 nuggets, no fries or drink and I was full. 5 months out, I am able to eat 4-5 nuggets no fries or drink and I am full. On the hamburger front, I used to be able to eat, if I pushed myself, to eat 6 double cheesburgers before surgery. Now I can only eat half of one. It's not the right choice but I still like to have fun with my friends and take part in their stupidities. Check out my youtube videos in my link below. I don't make my videos as often but I did make one just last week. Read as much as you can and educate yourself as much as well. Your call will come in no time.

Topic: RE: My wife would like a sleeve!!!
Bonjour Joel!
I am happy to hear that your wife has decided to jump on board and take the healthy choice for her in her life. This is not an easy decision to make but I am sure she has been thinking of this for a while now and the fact that she has made the decision is a huge step for her. For me, I called for a cosultation with Dr. Garneau because he had the least amount of waiting time. Before the consultation, I had my GP write up a referal letter that I brought to him but he never asked for it??? From then on, I waited for my call until it finally came. When I tell people about the surgery I tell them to call for a consultation right away to get on the list. You have a couple of months to think about it and it's not a committment. In the end, you are the one who decides if you want it or not. Had I not waited, I would have had the surgery a year before I actually had it because that's how long I waited before calling for my consult.
Let us know how it goes and if she feels up to it, get her to sign-up on OH and join the conversation.

Hi Candice,
Welcome to the board! Dr. Garneau has been really good to a couple of us and you will not regret this decision. The sleeve is a life-time commitment and it is the right choice for you. I think you are one of the firsts on our board to go through with a revision so I'm excited to know how it's done and how Dr. Garneau deals with it. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are all here to help and support one another.

Topic: RE: Monday Weigh-In (August, 8th)
Hey gang!
How was everyone's week? For Cathou and I, we went to PEI and NB for a wedding. We did some sight seeing, lots of eating (Lobster/Seafood), shopping, trails, beach... you know, the Island life. On the wieght front, I thought I would have gained some weight but thanks to this sleeve, I was able to lose 2 pounds since I left. We really tried to make healthier choices but it was just so tempting to try new things that we don't see around here (Island Nachos, Seafood Chowder, Lobster Rolls, Cows Ice Cream) you get the drift. Anyways, I managed to enjoy every food I wanted to try in small quantities so all in all I'm really happy on the weight front. We did have problems with portions, again, ordering too much food for just the one and a half of us. We had tons of leftovers but they are hard to keep when you stay at a hotel without a fridge in the room. Being on vacation though, it was the first time since surgery that I would have liked to be able to go back to my "old" stomach just for the trip. I wanted to savor everything I was having but my sleeve got in the way. Don't get me wrong, I still think that this sleeve saved my life, but even after being 5 months out, I still miss certain "bad" aspects of eating food like over-eating. I can't wait for my mind to reach where my stomach is at. For all you sleeve veterans out there, does the mind ever catch up?
Have a great week everyone.

Topic: Monday Weigh-In (August, 8th)
Another Monday, another weigh-in...
I had a pretty good week, lost 4 lbs and I'm feeling great!
I went to the water park today and it was great to be able to do all the slides, go up and down those ramps all day and not have to drag an extra 60 lbs!!
Next week it's back to work for me. I hope everything will be fine and I won't be too tired. After today, I feel a bit more comfortable with the idea of spending 8 hours at work! 6 weeks off should be more than enough, right?
Have a great week, everyone!

Topic: Getting a Revision (Band to Sleeve)
Bonjour a tous! Hello all!
I am going for my consulation in Montreal with Dr Garneau in September to remove my LapBand and have a gastric sleeve. I am very very excited since the band has been VERy challenging and rather painful. I work with a female who has recently had the sleeve procedure and I am so excited to see her progress!
Im looking for support and someone I can bombard with questions and leave my poor co worker alone (Thanks Kessey!!!).
Cheers!

Hi Joel,
How wonderful for your wife on her decision. It's hard sometimes fears can get the best of you...
Hope I can help you with some of your questions:
1) Yes you will need a referral from your doctor. I got mine from my GP, I think that it's just a formality but the government I think requests it.
2) You will need to call the main office for a consultation appointment I believe this is the phone number: 514-331-4322 and this the their web-site:
http://chirurgiebariatrique.com/
3) Martine is the bariatric nurse who helps you only after you have gone for your consultation and either she or Danielle (the secretary) will be calling your wife.Martine is the one that will be doing the blood work-up and pre-op stuff. Martine's phone number is 514-338-3666.
4) Your wife's initial consultation appointment will be at the Rockland office and not at the hospital.
5) When she calls for a consultation, they will be asking her which Dr. she wants her appointment with. I did my research and decided on Dr.Garneau. I think that choosing your Dr. is an important step in the process. Maybe speak with people who have gone through with it already and see what they think.
If you need anything else please feel free to ask and good luck to your wife on this very positive step in her life!
Take care,
Ada
