Hi Ada,
No pre-op testing for me yet, still too early I guess. What stage are you at?

Ada

Topic: Sleeve wait time 2.5 years
Hey everyone,
I called Martine today and found out that she is currently calling patients from Feb 2009 for surgery dates. For those with higher BMIs (and therefore having surgery at Sacre Couer) the wait time now is 2.5 years. Wow! My approval was September 2009...so could be waiting until March 2012. My partner who had her consult with Dr. Atlas in March 2010, is approved at Rockland for day surgery. Martine says she'll probably be calling sometime this October. That's good news.
Thankfully she also offered to send me the paperwork to get started on the sleep apnea test here in Gatineau, rather than driving to Montreal. I'm looking forward to getting this done, I think it'll help me feel like at least things are moving along.
Anyway, just wanted to let you guys know...it might be helpful info for others in the waiting room.
Hope everyone has a great Canada Day!

Thanks, everyone, for your answers and your support. It always means a lot more when it comes from people who are in the same situation. Well, 2 days to go, now... I hope I'll be back on here soon with good news!
In the meantime, just keep losing! :-)

Hi Joel,
Thanks so much for your response. Do you happen to know where I could contact to get something in writing from RAMQ about this? I am putting together a package for the Ontario Ministry of Health about this.
Thank you!

Hi Derek!
I'm glad you had a great vacation! You will lose that 0.8 pounds very fast! I weighed 226 yesterday morning, which is 1 pound away from my first mini goal. I hoped to reach 225 by June 30th. 2 days left....we'll see...

Hi Pat!
Welcome to this board! Yes indeed, DS is covered by RAMQ as first wls in Québec (for Quebec residents). Most DSs are performed at Hopital Laval in Quebec city. Montreal area surgeons seem to prefer sleeves, bands or plicature.
