Topic: 6 Weeks today!!!
And I'm down 34 pounds since surgery!!! I'm so happy and proud as I dig through my old clothes to find something that fits!!! For work, I need to put up with a "big" shirt for now until they order more. I work at a Dep.
I'm finally eating some solids, but being careful how much I chew and how fast I eat. Most food goes down well, but I have taken advice from everywhere on the board about preparing ny food. For example; when I cook chicken breasts, I almost steam them with all kinds of yummy spices and then once they're cooled, I cut them up in little tiny pieces and mix with dried onions and Miracle Whip and let it sit overnight (in the fridge of course). The next day, they are nice and soft and savory. Yum!
Have a great week everybody!!

Why don't we go to Baton Rouge??? I'm in the mood for some 1100 calorie, 30 grams of fat and 81 grams of protein, fall off the bone ribs....

Topic: RE: Article - surgery for minors
Being father of two "rather big" grade school kids, I intend to everything I can to prevent morbid obesity...but if I fail, it somehow conforts me to thing that bariatric surgery could be an option at an earlier stage for them than it was for me...

Hi, Dr. Gagner and I have been playing telephone tag, so we have not actually been able to speak yet; in the meantime, does anyone know how follow-up is handled if you don't live in Montreal? What if there are post-op issues or complications? Thanks.

I'd love to come and say goodbye to you, Sarah, as well as seeing all of you guys again. However, I'll be in the middle of my Optifast diet and I don't think I'm that strong!
I hope all the paper work and red tape don't keep you and Simon apart for very long!
Wish you all the best!

Topic: RE: Smoking and VSG???
I think you should have been told way before 30 days pre-op to quit smoking and the reasons for it in order to give you a bit of time to mentally prep for it....
That being said, I've had surgery both while I was a smoker and a non-smoker, and it was much easier for me to "come to" once they woke me up from the anesthesia when I was a non-smoker.
Like I mentioned in the other post.. the patch did help with the physical need of nicotine while I fought the mental habit when I quit.
Good Luck :)

Topic: RE: Got my date!!! July 6th!!!!! Woot Woot!!!
Congratulations Kessey! It's so exciting hearing about others having their surgery dates!
Kessey if it's any consolation, I too was a pack a day smoker and kicked the habit (after 3-4 tries) with the patch, but I was mentally prepared to do so. It was hard... but much easier than cold turkey.
Good Luck!!
