Liquid Zoloft -- HELP!
thank you!!!! wendy
It was then and there that I decided that I would swallow the pills intact. I still gag most nights when I take 'em, but I do get them down and its much better than crushing and diluting.
I am unfamiliar with Zoloft. Is the pill just too big or is it SR and thats why you need the liquid?

Going cold turkey off an SSRI drug can be dangerous both mentally and physically.
As some others have said, I too, was swallowing pills the day after surgery. Some meds just cannot be missed.
Good luck,
Cindy O.
Speak with your doctor and/or trusted pharmacist first.
Many meds that come in capsules say right on them DON'T crush, pull apart, etc. and for good reasons.

I dunno why your pharmacist didn't tell you, they can flavor your Zoloft like they do for kid's cough medicines. I took liquid Depakote for many months after my surgery and the pharmacist flavored it~ Watermelon. It didn't taste a thing like watermelon, but it tasted better than the plain ole flavor.
You have to ask your doctor to "perscribe" the flavoring..they won't just add it at the drug store.
Good luck to ya,

Hey Wendy, I've been there. Post-RNY, liquid sertraline burned and numbed my mouth the first time because I didn't dilute it enough. What finally worked:
-
Mix the exact dose into a small splash of strong flavor (Crystal Light lemonade worked best for me), ice-cold, then use a straw.
-
Chase with a sip of water or a sugar-free popsicle.
-
Ask the pharmacy to add flavoring (mine did berry -- not great, but way better).
-
Once cleared by my surgeon, I switched to the tiny tablet with a spoon of yogurt, went down fine.
Totally agree: don't stop an SSRI cold turkey and don't open/crush capsules unless your doc/pharmacist says it's safe. You've got this. ð?'?
I haven't had my surgery yet but the zoloft I take is in capsule form which I'm hoping to be able to pull apart and sprinkle in something not for sure yet if this is going to be an option but you might want to check on this.

Squidsmom,
Just a fyi from my comment I was suggesting this person check on this as an option not to run out and do this I have had to do this previously to back off ineffective anti-deppresants and it worked for me but by all means I would not tell someone to do this without checking with their own physican or pharmicist.
