Why am I not feeling the "full" effect?  I'm on pureed foods now.  I feel like I could continue to eat and eat...am I crazy?

You won't get the 'full' effect early on out. Some experience discomfort but no 'full' sensation. During the first few months it's more important to measure food by volume.

I'm 6 months out and still don't get a 'full' feeling. If I've eaten too much I start to sneeze.

Before the surgery I kept putting things off. I was never good enough. One of the benefits of WLS is that you start to believe in yourself. Check out my blog:

Sorry to tell you but Im 13 months out and I never get the full feeling unless  I eat  something as in normal food.  ( food that I shouldnt be eating higher in calories carbs and fat)   even then Its not the  good   full feeling you got before surgery.    Im thinking that s gone forever.   I dont know tho.      karen

Because when you had surgery, they cut the nerves that tell your brain when you are full.  It can take weeks or longer for that to heal.  Until then, you need to measure your food and stop when you've had the amount you are supposed to eat.

Hello,

I am still in the process of waiting for a surgery date.  When I spoke with my nutritionist, she explained that the 1/2 of cup 3 times a day sounds ridiculous now, but after surgery, it is so hard to even get that down that you will be forcing yourself.  So there is a chance I may never get a full feeling?  And by full, do we mean Satisfied?

Thanks!

I'm allowed 2 medicine cups full of food per setting.  Definetly something I gotta work on

The full sensation is really noticable when you get to solid foods.

I never got much in the way of "full" feeling until about six months out, and then only sporadically.... by 9 months it was consistent.

But pre-op FULL was a sort of comfortable discomfort. There's nothing at all comfortable about "full" now.... I dislike how it feels, and try to never feel it.
