It can be. I am in a smaller town, and don't have access to much besides fast food. I'm currently on a Mediterranean diet plan so I try to eat lean meats like chicken and fish, lots of fruits and veggies, and healthy fats like nuts. Since my town doesn't have grocery stores that sell those items, I end up eating more pasta or bread.

I have learned to find ways to keep myself busy during holidays. My family has a tradition where we go out after Thanksgiving dinner to see the lights around our small town. We all go our separate ways for Christmas and New Years, so I usually spend that time with friends or doing things for me.

The biggest thing is learning what triggers you to over eat, and finding ways to either avoid those situations, or find a way to control yourself in them.
