Converting to a DS from VSG is pretty straightforward. Going from RNY to DS is extremely complicated and risky. You can count on one hand the number of doctors in North America with much experience in doing that revision.

6'3" tall, male.

Highest weight was 475. RNY on 08/21/12. Current weight: 198.

M1 -24; M2 -21; M3 -19; M4 -21; M5 -13; M6 -21; M7 -10; M8 -16; M9 -10; M10 -8; M11 -6; M12 -5.

Topic: Overstitch

Hello I had my surgery 2011 and currently looking into having the overstitch revision. I have gained about 50 back and want to lose it. Please any feedback from anyone who has had the procedure. I keep ready alot of negative information.

Update: Met with my surgeon and he is recommending I do the "loop duodenal switch"... so now I've got to research this option. It sounds great to be able to keep the sleeve stomach but add malabsorption. So far, though, it doesn't seem like there is a TON of long-term research on it. And I might have to self-pay because I don't think my insurance would cover this type of revision... but it would be worth the $$ if I could keep my sleeve. I have less restriction than when I started, but still definitely have restriction.

You will have periods like this. I went an entire month without losing any weight. Yes it is discouraging but it's part of the process. Iost 90 percent of my excess weight with the sleeve .

I usually do a protein shake for breakfast and then a protein and and veggie for lunch and I have been skipping dinner because of how late I get home... my water intake could be better ...

There is the three week stall that usually happens three weeks post op, but sometimes it might be a little longer.

What does your daily menu look like? Are you drinking plenty of water?

From what I have seen if this is anything like the ROSE or overstitch procedure most insurances do not cover it and the weight loss has been minimal like 50lbs or less.

You say your bypass is no longer working did a doctor tell you this or are you just assuming it isn't working?
