Good morning I hope all is going well with everyone. I had gastric bypass revision July 31st 2018. The surgery went well however the nausea was very bad but I did get over it. They also stated I had a hernia that they repaired. It'll be 3 weeks and 2 days and I've only lost 10 lb so I am a little bit upset with that. I know I have not been on the diet like I should be so that may be the cause. I'm back on track and I will keep you guys posted good luck
Hi I had gastric bypass in 2006 lost about 80 lb. Within the last 2 years I re gained 50 lb. I just had gastric bypass revision and it seems like it's going really slow not sure what's going on. I've only lost 10 lbs and it'll be 3 weeks in 2 days. I feel that I can eat anything as well. I need to focus on eating the right things. Ever since surgery I was always able to eat more than the 4 ounces they stated I would only be able to eat. It seems like I can't tell when I'm full but I can feel afterwards that I eaten too much. Any suggestions
I had my revision from sleeve to bypass on 8/14/18.... right now I'm in pretty significant pain and regretting it.... I know it'll pass.... but the pain and nausea is beating me slowly into the ground. I hope your surgery went well and you're healing nicely!

the only people I know who have had the band over bypass have had a lot of problems and ended up having the band removed and other revisional surgeries to their bypass. It seems like the bands are just a lot of potential for risk all around IMO

I'm at a loss. I had my surgery in November of 2002. I had an RNY. I never was able to get to my goal weight of 180 from 404. I list fast at first, then I started having issues at my stitch line and still have a spot that looks like a belly button but it's an opening in the stitch line.
So I did get to 225 and that was it. So now over the years I have gotten back up to a highest of 352. Back last September I was 341. In the past 3 months I have cut my calories to 1500 and go to Physical therapy 2 to 3 times a week. I have not been able to lose much even though I am tracking every damn morsel I put in my mouth. I got down to 309 and keep in the 312 to ,309 range. No movement at all .
I cut to 1250, still nothing. I'm at a loss. I'm going for a consultation next week, the 29th. Anyone else have this issue, and if so what did you do? Revision or????????
Please help!!!!
many of us can't lose unless we are at 800 calories.
You are eating way too many calories, IMO, and it is causing you to stay at this maintenance weight.
Whst os a day of eating look like for you, menu wise?

Thanks for replying! I'm so happy to hear you're GERD is gone and that you had success with weight loss. I see my doc next week about the GERD and I have gained 45-50 pounds since my initial loss with the sleeve. I don't even know if he'll recommend the rny but with what I'm reading, I think it's likely he will. The idea that I could lose weight and maybe even more than what I initially lost is so tempting. I was 220 when I was sleeved and got to 165, I'd like to hit the 130 mark myself. Thank again and good luck!
Thank you, I am trying to get back on track too. I had RNY January 2000 and was very successful. Lost 130 pounds and started to regain 5 years ago when my Mom passed away. I lost site of how to eat and began eating anything I wanted too. I forgot that I have to forever eat the way my surgeon suggested we do for the rest of our lives. I don't want to go through a revision and just want to get back on track. I believe my pouch still works. The malabsorption may no longer be a help but I truly believe my pouch hasn't failed. It may be bigger than it used to be but since I have started a higher protein diet, cravings have already started to subside.
Hello Carolyn,
Are you switching to another wls or just removing the band?
Thank you soo much for the details of the Keto diet and the offer to help I really appreciate it!! And the Truvia suggestion. I can totally try it, baby steps to ween off the full sugar tea.
I am happy to hear that you had it unfilled, thats great and what a difference with your ability to eat that quickly. Its crazy how just a little fluid in it can cause soo many problems. And I am glad to hear that another Dr said the same thing mine did about the failures of the band. I swear they should totally do away with it. I hope you dont have to deal with any erosion damage.
So I can totally relate to the emotional side of this journey. I am embarrassed as well so I know what you mean and to have a Dr totally agree with you and understand thats huge. My primary care dr is not easy on me when I go to her . She is always discussing how she only has me and one other patient that has not been successful with the band. So when I go to her in Oct I will inform her that she should be more aware of the problems that the band is causing and that my other Dr had to let me know, when I see her like 4 times a year and instead of making me feel like I failed she should have done some research of the possible problems.
The amount you stated if you have to pay out of pocket is not too bad if cigna does not pick it up. Hopefully they will for you.
So I have a case worker assigned to me from the Bariatric Dept with United Health care and since I do have a high BMI, I am totally covered for the revision and the bypass. All I have to do is after my unfill appointment and the review of the GI results with TGH Dr Mooney, I just have to call United with a surgery date and I am good to go. So I am anxious to get this show on the road. I have 2 cruises scheduled before the end of the year so I need to work around those and I already gave my boss a heads up that I may be out for 2 surgeries and she understands and will work with me. And by no means do I mean this in a bragging way, thats not me, but my company is awesome with short term leave. Its 100% pay for up to 26 weeks. So this takes off the stress of having to be out twice, removal and bypass, for this to happen.
So after Aug 30th , counting down the days to that appt, I will know when everything will happen and I can go on this journey again, with better success!!
