Hi Everyone!!! My question is...when can you start to take your tablets whole? I am still using chewable multi-vitamins and was using liquid calcium...but a couple of days ago I thought I would take the citracal tablets. I split them but they caught in my throat! Today I swallowed them whole which was much easier, ...they are quite big and I 'm only a month post op is this OK..or should I go back to liquid calcium? Lesley

Chell - I was told to add calcium to my vitamin (which already has calcium) after my last consult with the nutritionist. I ended up with Citracal+D creamy chews. It is calcium citrate in a "candy" form. They have chocolate fudge, lemon and caramel. You may want to be very careful because they do have sugar alcohols. I do fine with them, but I only take 1 a day in addition to my 4 Optisource vitamins. You can get them from Walmart. Now if they only would make french fry calcium supplements... Kathy

I was told to break up any calcium citrate pills and I am a couple of months out. They are pretty large. I am now taking Citracal + D creamy chews. Much easier to get down and much tastier. Kathy

Chell, It's called Calexcel, I got it from Costco. It's $13 for 20 ozs 1000mg of calcium citrate is 30cc. it tastes OK but after 1 month I was gagging on it!!!! I hope you find a calcium you like soon...the dietician scared me pre-op by saying that one lady lost her teeth 1 yr aftr WLS because she did not take adequate calcium! Lesley

Lesley, I just met with Dr. Morgan this morning for my 1 mth checkup and I asked her about the Calcium because I am not taking them. I did tell her that I am getting plenty of milk, yogurt, chez & cottage chez. She said not to worry that it was okay.......... so I was happy to hear that. Ask your doc. Mine said what I was doing was okay....... Best of luck!!!!!!!!!!! p.s. I think I met u at the LCBB 2wks ago............u look different from your pic.......way to go........... Ana

Lesley, I have a whole bottle of OASIS liquid calcium, and I do not take it because my vitamins, Vista Vitamins, have all the calcium, and other nutrients in them, much easier than trying to count out pills and to this day, 9 months post op, I still cut my pills that are big up. I would cut them in 3rds or 4ths if you need to, or crush them. I bought a pestal and mortar at Bed Bath Beyond, and it was very helpful....had to take some antibiotics from the foley, and mixed it with applesauce, and of course it was bitter, but helpful. Try the Vistas, I did not go to capsules until I was 3 months post op, the longer your pouch has to heal, the better...and 6-8 weeks is about the timeframe for that. Take care, and you are doing wonderful!!! Deb
