If that title doesn't make you wonder....???? I am talking about washing machines!!! My hubby and I are moving into a new house at the end of September (yep...we got it) and were looking to buy a new washer and dryer. The guy at hhgregg really pushed the front loader on us and said it is the best one out there. It was a GE. Does anyone have an opinion one way or the other on the front load or the traditional one? Thanks Rachel

Hey girl! I have a traditional one but my daughter has the front loaders. She bought the Neptunes and paid two arms and two legs for hers and HATES them. She bought them three years ago when they bought their new house and has been trying to find someone to sell them to. She said hers takes forever to wash clothes and even longer to dry them. She said it reminded her of the front loading dryers at the laundramat, you keep putting quarters in and the clothes take forever and a fortune to get them dry. Now, whether they are all like that or not, I have no clue, she is the only person I know that has them. Good Luck! Mary

The front loader really is supposed to be better. It uses less water, so it's better for the environment, and is supposed to clean better, too. We ended up getting a traditional one, because we couldn't afford a front loader, but if you can afford it, I'd recommend it -- and Consumer Reports does too! Lisa

Congrats on the house!!!! where are yall moving to??? i wont get to look at ya across the hill anymore. lol.. talk to u later!! Jen .. oh yea we have the traditional, and i think i would stick with the basic kind, upper end traditional ones since theyre sooo much cheaper and do the same job in my opinion lol.. and go to Jeff Lynch and see Jeff Fletcher and tell him you know me he will help you out!!!!! hes my best friends husband.. theyre prices are ALWAYS cheaper, they do marketing checks every day to make sure they are cheaper .. just a thought!!!

We discovered Jeff Lynch last night while surfing the net. We drove right by them yesterday during our "adventures" in Greenville. We are planning to go back out to see them some time this week. Thanks for the info!!! Rachel

I got my front loader this last christmas and I have to say I LOVE IT. yes they are a bit more expensive to purchase though I am still on the SAME box of detergent since then. you use such a small amount. Plus the savings on water and energy are really worth it. I never have to deal with it getting uneven, and the washer is just soo gentle with everything. I love mine and would never go back to a traditional top loader. I have seen way too big a difference to change back!!

I've had both. Front loader is MUCH better. Uses less water and less soap. It spins faster and removes more water from the clothes, thereby reducing drying time. The dryer is the biggest energy consumer in the house after heat and air. Eddie
