Woo Hoo!! That is great. Update your profile so it will show up in the upcoming surgeries list. You know, you'll be on Optifast before your EGD. It won't be nearly as bad to not eat as you think it will be. Whatever you do, don't CHEAT before your EGD. If Dr. Bour finds out you ate before the EGD he will send you home and postpone your surgery. The nurses at my EGD told me they've seen him do it before. Not even a teeny bite. After your EGD you can eat again - but again you will be on Optifast. While I was still loopy from the drugs after the EGD. I demanded that my husband drive me from the hospital straight to Church's Fried Chicken. He said OK and then drove me home and put me to bed instead. I hardly even noticed. Its ALL worth it Rachel. You will love your new life. Kathy

Actually I have to go find out about optifast the morning before my EGD so I won't have offically started optifast. SO I have to go in the morning before to hear about all food before the EGD. Is Dr. Bour usually on time? Rachel

Actually, you will have officially started optifast. You will be sent home ON Optifast that morning. They start you during that meeting. It will be fine. Optifast is better than alot of the protien drinks and like Melissa said, just sleep in. You won't hardly notice it. Dr. Bour is usually on time unless there is some other emergency going on. He was on time for my stuff. Kathy

This is so exciting!!!!! Don't worry about not eating before the EGD. It is not that bad. Sleep in a little that morning and you won't even notice. Listen to what Kathy said. If you eat he will know it!!!! I am so excited for you!!!!!!! You are sooooo going to be the BOMB!!!!!!!!!!!! Melissa

Congratulations! I told you that you would go before me. I'm glad your getting somewhere with Dr. Bours office, cause I'm not. So are you having it at Hillcrest Hospital? It's less than 4 weeks that you have to be on optifast so thats a good thing. I wi**** would work out like that for me. Good luck! Hugs! Mary

The only reason it worked out for me like that is because I didn't care about the location. I had to get special approval from Dr. Bour to only do 2 weeks of optifast. I think he only OKed it because he needed to schedule some surgeries for that week. Yes, I am having it at Hillcrest. I would have preferred to have it at St. Francis but it would have been a much longer wait. Rachel

That is so great. You will have surgery 3 days before me. I'm having mine 10/5/06. I had to wait because Dr. Tribble is on 3 weeks vacation. Can't wait to see you on the loser's bench!!! Congratulations.

Rachel, No kidding around that is nothing compared to going almost 48 hours from night b4 surgery to day after with nothing so it will be a breeze. I am very excited for you and did not mean to start that out with a negative first off. Congrats and you go girl!!!! Patti

YES!!! You'll be gagging on clear liquid protein before you BLINK, girl! My EGD was in the afternoon, and having nothing to drink was difficult (but really nothing compared to "NPO" from Tuesday night at midnight until Friday afternoon, as I had to do when I had my surgery!) ... but Dr. Bour had the nurse call my house and ask me to come in early for the EGD, because he was running ahead of schedule. Once I was at the hospital, it was practically over before I got undressed. And the nurses are wonderful ... you'll wake up to someone asking you what you want to drink. I am very happy for you! What a fantastic birthday gift for your husband: a morning in the waiting room, and an afternoon watching you sleep and press your pain meds button! Just kidding ... he'll ALWAYS remember the day he got a healthier, slimmer Rachel! Dawn
