Getting Plastic Surgery in Mexico, yes Mexico!

Okay, here is some info. I have been researching this for a couple of months now, and since I got denied by Tricare, and Dr. Katzen as well as other doctors wanted over $20,000 for surgery, and that did not quite cover the hospital and everything, so more like $24,000 for everything, I just do not have that kind of money!! SO, here is a reply that I sent to Susann, and wanted to share it with everyone since I know we can't all get covered by insurance and or afford the pricetags associated with plastics. Love ya!! Deb I have been doing some research, and think I am going to get my plastics done in Mexico, about 2 hrs from here. The doctor is Dr. Fuentes and he is really good, and double certified both in the USA and Mexico and does lots of gastric bypass patients, about 90% American. A body lift is about $4400 for everything, overnight in the hospital, nursing care for the overnight, anesthesia and everything. Most people stay in a hotel across from his clinic/hospital and they pamper you, with food, and making sure you are comfortable. I am so doing the Mexico thing and I am very excited. The size 6 is only for skirts, not pants....size 8 sometimes 10 in pants...all in the thighs. I had Tommy take some pics of my thighs, front, sides, back and everything...naked and emailed them to the doc as I emailed him some in my bathing suit before, and he will email me back with quotes and then I will drive down to Tijuana for the consult. He will do over the phone consults with email pics so you don't have to make 2 trips to Mexico. There is a lady, Baja Vicki who owns a service called Baja Beauty Coach who will take me across the border and then bring me to my consult and back across again. The clinic also has a driver, Alex, who will do it as well. That is soo exciting Deb, I just might have to make a trip to Mexico sometime next year!! That isn't a bad price at all, course have t o talk the hubby into it! I can't wait to hear about your results!! Any idea as to when you are going to be doing this?

Tommy is 100% for it! I made him read all the posts and look at the pics from the people who went down there to the same doc. We are thinking in December so he can be home to take care of me. I am excited and ready to get this over with!! The doctor said he will do the lower body lift which will pull up the buttocks and hopefully do the fat transfer at the same time (where they take fat from the lipo and inject it in your booty to fill it out and make it round) I saw a few of those he did and they look awesome!! Then the Inner Thigh Lift will have to be a separate surgery as he likes to be more cautious and let one incision heal at a time, which I am grateful for. SO, I will get the thighs done a few months later, and the boobs too, and lipo my arms a little bit and I am done!!! I am going to try to get a consult asap, and then I will let you guys know how it goes! I finally feel like this is going to happen!!! I am soooo excited!! PS Kylee, there are lots of people from all over the USA who fly in for their surgery and stay about 2 weeks, and make it sort of a vacation from what I hear, but you don't have to stay that long if your pcp will take care of you afterwards and deal with your drains, etc...

I got my consult for the Lower Body Lift (LBL) on October 11th at 2:30 in Tijuana, Mexico!!! I am sooo excited! The Doctor emailed me back last night and said that I would benefit the most from the LBL and that we would do the breasts a separate time! You guys, I never imagined I could afford plastics out of pocket, so AMEN and God Bless for finding this awesome Dr! Even if Insurance came through right now for only a tummy tuck, I am pretty sure I would turn it down and go with the Dr. in Mexico because of his reputation and his work and doing all the LBL stuff instead of just the tummy tuck, which I don't really need. Consult scheduled for October 11th 2:30!!!!

Okay, here is the estimate and info my doc emailed back to me. My consult is on October 11th!! Dear Deborah: The lower body lift will correct the extra skin on your abdomen, mostly the lower abdomen, below the navel, will also lift the buttocks and the lateral thighs area in the same procedure. For the upper abdominal skin, the vertical incision is an option mostly for those patients who already have the scar in that area, for you I will recommend to wait after the lower body lift, and see how much extra skin is still after the surgery, the other option is to lift the abdominal skin from an incision under the breast (mammary crease) that is easier to hide. I usually do the lower body lift alone, if your hemoglobin levels are above normal, I will consider to do a breast lift with implants or an arm lift. Enclosed is an estimate for the surgery. ($5400) for Surgeon's fee, Anesthesia, Aftercare in the clinic and everything. I like the idea that he will do the upper abs with the breast lift and not have a vertical scar!!! YEAH!!! Deb

Hi, I am very interested to hear more about this. I know to check on doctors in the us you can go thru the American Medical Association, or better Business Bureau. Do they have any type of agency that a person can check on the doctors there? When are you doing this? Patti
