QUOTE: "His explanation was this:
Although the scales may not reflect a LOSS, my body is going through many chemical changes INSIDE and NO poundage loss does NOT mean Im not losing....look at the INCHES we lose even tho the scale says we havent lost anything.
An example of an internal change happening that we dont really realize and think nothing is changing:
Here's how we lose weight - first the fat slowly is being burned for muscle activity and just general existing...the part that I never really thought about, is this- the fat gradually softens and liquifies and, where it used to be a chunk of solid fat, it becomes liquid fat. This fatty fluid takes time to gradually be absorbed into our systems for disposal and to be excreted from our body aided by all of the water that we drink...that's why drinking so much water is so important...it flushes out the liquidized fat!
Why did I realize that? It makes so much more sense when the physiology of it all is explained!
I am fortunate to have such a supportive family doctor.....he says how proud he is of me..Im his first WLS patient and he seems just as excited as I am with each checkup!"
Thanks, Joan! I had begun to notice that when the scales were standing still (as they were for the last 2 weeks, ARGH!) that my clothing was still getting larger, so I was getting smaller even though my weight wasn't going down. I'm glad to know there's a medical reason for it, not my imagination or wishful thinking!
It was so good to see you Wednesday night! I'm sorry I had to run, I had to pick up my hubby at work.

LIsa..I am glad I read that post also. I was stuck and now the scale is moving again but I did buy smaller pants today because my 12/14's from Walmart are getting baggy...I bought 8/10's.....can't believe it....guess the fat is ...m..e..l..t..i..n...g....SMILE. So glad you were there at the meeting. Can't wait till next month and the Christmas Party.
In Him,
Joan
