Hey everyone! I just have a few questions. I am 7 weeks out and I just can't seem to eat more than 3 or 4 bites of something and I am sooo full. Now, I know that is the point but am I ever gonna bee able to eat a whole container (single serving) of jello? I feel like there are days when I would rather drink than eat because I am always sooo thirsty. Is any of this normal? Other than just some general questions I have not been happier! Thank you in advance for any input you may have! Jodie

I fill up fast too but I could eat a single serving of jello now with no problem. You may need to check with you doctor about a stricture. 3-4 bites does not fill me up unless I don't chew well enough or eat to fast. Who knows, maybe I'm the abnormal one!! Rachel

Hey Rachel, It's weird because I don't think it is a stricture. It just feels like there is no room in there. But, maybe you are right...maybe I don't chew well enough. I know that if I have one bite too many then I am in the bathroom. I don't think I have dumped but, I do know when I have had too much! I guess I shouldn't complain. What about salad? Does that make you sick? My Dr. said not to have it yet and I did, twice and threw up both times. Well, thanks! I better get going. Jodie

I haven't tried a salad yet but I did have a raw carrot and I didn't chew well enough. It got stuck and that was awful. I have only thrown up 1 time. I had too much potato. I didn't know I had too much until about 5 minutes after I ate and then it all came up. Rachel

That sounds about right for me. I think everyone is different, and as long as you are not throwing up after 1 bite, and you can drink, you probably don't have a stricture. Instead of jello, try some cottage cheese for protein. Make sure you are getting your protein in. I use the Profect Protica drinks. They are 3 oz vials that have 25gms of protein. I still to this day, can't eat a whole pudding, but depending how fast, I can eat a whole jello, but I fill up on Jello pretty fast for some reason Just don't worry. Add some crystal lite to your water and continually sip to quench your thrist, because its the hardest thing. Also I had kidney stones last year cause I did not continually drink. Sip Sip Sip Deb PS You sound just like me....there is no "normal" but you sound fine to me

PS I did not do salads until about 2-3 months post op, and not much of it. Protein first, then veggies, and cooked is better. In fact it was probably more like 4-5 months before I did salads. I was hooked on Wendy's chili and then Taco Salad, which is just a salad with Chili on top. 3 bites I am full. Sometimes I can eat 5 bites.....don't ask me why some days, same food I can eat more than other days....weird!! I think this whole surgery is weird. One day I can eat one food, the next day I can't. Some people can eat scrambled eggs, I can't. I can eat fried though (in Pam) All our little pouches are strange and wierd!! FUNNY!! Deb

Hi Jodie! For me I was only able to eat a few bites too. It just depends on how small the surgeon made your pouch. I know that for me and my friends here in Charleston that had different surgeons it varies. At this point you are doing fine in pushing your fluids, thats very important, then make sure you get your protein in. Those two things are a key combo in the beginning. Good Luck with your journey and we are all here for you! Britt

I was the same way! I was so frustrated after the first month of only being able to eat a couple bites at a meal! I think it was about 2 months out, that I could noticeably eat more. And I had a really good weight loss right around then, because my body was in starvation mode up until that point. Just hang on, eat what you can...it does get better! Gradually, as months go by, you will be able to eat more and more. Hugs, Elizabeth
