Cook Books?

I have major concerns with the "stage I & II" diet. Once home what can I eat? What should be introduced first? All suggestions, example are welcome. Please don't forget to mention things that also didn't work well for you. Any suggestions on cook books,or web sites that could help? Has anyone heard anything about the Eating Well After WLS Book? Is it worth my twenty bucks? Thanks Jamie

On the OH site, there is a link to Susan Maria, I want to say Leach. She has recipes in her book. What I have seen look wonderful.

I have that cook book, Eating Well after WLS. It has some great recipes and tells you what you can have at what stage. It also tells you which recipes that can be pureed and what is good at what stage. That being said, I did not have a lot of time to prepare the recipes and some of them were a little complicated with some hard to find ingredients. All the recipes are low sugar and the desserts are made with either Splenda or another sugar substitute. It is written by a chef who had the surgery and consulted with her program people. I hope that helps. Julie

I've looked through the Eating Well after WLS book, and it looks great (haven't cooked anything from it though). I can highly recommend the Before and After book by Susan Maria Leach (her website is http://www.bariatriceating.com/) and she has recipes on the website, also. Quick plug: check out your local library -- I found both of those books and more there. Lisa

I am working on it, haha. Go to my old posts and I have lots of ideas and recipes in there. Just anything that is protein first, then veggies, then a little fat for flavor...stick to that. Stay away from fried foods and do baked. Wendy's chili is awesome for fast food, and good for you and I can't eat it all. Deb
