Anyone's surgery done by Dr. Ross in Spartanburg
Hello I am haveing my sugery 2/19 and I and Dr. Ross is doing it but I see on here about the protein powders and all but I have been told nothing about all this but all this happened pretty fast for me can you tell me any advice to get prepared because money is tight for me and I need some advance warning on things I need to purchase I called the office and they told me someone would talk to me when I go in for pre-op but I dont do that until 2/12 so any help at all would be wonderful.
Thanks all
Melissa

Melissa,
Congrats on getting your surgery. I had to take some classes before I had surgery and it was a big help. Protein is very important after surgery you will not be able to get as much in and your body doesn't take it in the same way as before. I was told that I needed to get 65-85 grams a day. So until you can eat more meat and fish. Protein drinks and bars are the answer.

Hey Melissa,
A lovely lady named Norma will go over all those things with you in pre - op..... If you're like me and can't tolerate proteins than hold off of buying stuff till you have your visit with her...... she's one of the best..... and you're just going to love Dr. Ross, he is a wonderful man ......... good luck hon on your upcoming surgery ......
*hugs*

Good luck on your surgery!!
The one thing I will tell you not to skimp on is vitamins. Why would anyone go through this surgery only to put Fred Flintstones in their system? People who skimp on vitamins have the most troubles. I sooo wished I could get that across to people.
I wish I got paid by Vistas, but here is the website, and its cheaper to use them. I figured out it was less than $1.50 per day for these vitamins. I have never had bad blood levels EVER!!!
Go to www.vistavitamins.com
The best tasting protein powder for drinks is Protein Delite, and you can get it now at the Vitamin Shoppe. Also they sell "Any Whey" and I mixed it in all my things. Drinkable yogurt was great, make sure its the Light N Fit from Dannon, Carb and Sugar Control, and I mixed a 1/2 scoop of AnyWhey into the yogurt.
You can get all of that at The Vitamin Shoppe, not the vitamins though.
Most people can tolerate protein and if you don't eat it, you will feel awful. We were allowed to eat anything that was pureed, so get a magic bullet blender.
It seems like you might spend a lot, but if you think that this is an investment, and its not something you will buy each week.
Vitamins, I buy once every 3 months, $65 Magic Bullet Blender, $49 Protein Powder $20 Protein Delite $30??
Not too bad to start out with, and do get some Propel and drink that, low sugar, well really no sugar, and you can mix it with ice in the blender and it tastes and feels good on your new pouchie.
Go read all my old posts, it will help
God Bless,
Deb

Hey Melissa,
Dr. Ross did my surgery a year ago. He is awesome. Norma will go over everything with you and will have a few samples for you, too. But protein is very key. Maybe you can try to come and meet with us on Monday nights (don't know where yet) in Greenville. I'll be glad to bring you some protein samples. Just let me know...
Hugs,
Dianne
