I am 2 years rny post op and just had my gallbladder surgery last week. I dont know why my surgeon didnt take it out during my rny 2 years ago. Anybody out there who has had gallbladder removal postop and can tell me what to expect, what can I eat now and will this effect my weightloss progress. Thanks for the info.

Hi Deborah, I didnt have it removed post-op but had it removed about 2 years pre-op. The only advice I can give is to stay away from oily, buttery, and fried foods. Orange juice didn't sit very well either. In the first year or so, if you eat any of those things you will have to do #2 immediately. It often catches you off guard and you have to go really quickly. You can no longer "hold it" until you get home or until you get to the store. You have to go immediately. I almost didn't make it a few times in the beginning, it's like having a really extreme case of the runs so don't take a chance. If you feel the urge to go, go immediately. You will eventually get more control and know the signs of when you ate something wrong and have to go immediately. It shouldn't effect your weight loss, actually it may help it cause you will void more and we all know that weighs a few ounces itself. Good luck hun, I hope this helps. Feel free to write me back if you have any other questions. Robin
