Kind of Venting.
You guys are great listeners so here I go.. I tried to go back to work this week and I made it for 4 days but today I am soo tired that I just can't make it. Dr Baker has not given me clearance to return to work but she did say I could try to go back with light duty @ 4 weeks. My job has been very accomodating with the no push, pull or lift rule but I am still worn out. My schedule just doesn't allow for much rest. I have my 3 yr old with me during the day to save on childcare costs. My husband leaves at 5 am so that he can be home in time for me to leave for work at 2pm. I get home at about 12:15am and get up at 6 to start all over! My MIL takes the 3 yr old a couple of times a week for a few hours so that I can rest and I really thank God for her. She'll even bring us dinner if i don't have the energy to cook. On top of it all my incision really has been hurting lately and I have a random pain in my left side that feels like a pulled muscle everytime I move. Maybe my nerve endings are starting to heal..I don't know. Well, thanks for listening. I hope everyone else is having a better day than me!
I hope you haven't been picking up your baby.
As a mom it is hard to not do it.
Please take advantage of the help that is there for you. Even though you did this for you, you did it for your family too. It sounds like you need to grab a nap every chance you get and maybe take a walk and then a hot bath to relax.
All of our bodies recover at different rates. You might feel great today and like poop tomorrow. Listen to your body.
Are you taking all of your vits and eating?
Deb

YOU HAVE A GREAT MOTHER-IN-LAW! WOW, SHE REALLY IS SPECIAL!
SO SORRY TO HEAR THAT YOU ARE SO TIRED, BUT EVEN THOUGH 4 WEEKS SEEMS LIKE A LONG TIME, IT'S STILL QUITE NORMAL TO BE EXHAUSTED AT THAT POINT. IT TAKES 3 MONTHS JUST FOR YOUR INSIDES TO HEAL FROM ALL THE CUTTING & STAPELING, SO YOUR POOR BODY IS UNDER SOME MAJOR STRESS.
DON'T PICK UP YOUR BABY ... NOTHING STRENUOUS AT ALL FOR 6 - 8 WEEKS! IF THE PAIN PERSISTS, BE SURE TO CONTACT YOUR SURGEON'S OFFICE. DON'T SUFFER WITH IT.
PROTEIN, PROTEIN, PROTEIN ... HELPS IN HEALING & STRENGTHENS YOU AS IT IS THE MAIN SOURCE OF YOUR NUTRITION TO BUILD UP YOUR BODY & STAMINA. BE SURE TO TAKE YOUR VITAMINS & MINERALS. INCREASE YOUR SUBLINGUAL B-12; THAT HELPS WITH ENERGY ... TRY 2,500 mcg A DAY.
YOU'RE DOING WONDERFULLY ACTUALLY ... EVEN THOUGH IT DOESN'T FEEL LIKE IT RIGHT NOW!
GOD BLESS YOU ... DAWN & NICk
See this is why I vent here, you guys are like a safety net. thanks for your replies. I don't pick up my youngest and that has been hard on her but she has seen my "boo boo"s and understands a little. I have been taking 1500 mg of b-12 and maybe I should increase it! my husband is on the atkins diet so I really don't have a choice but to eat my protien!
I don't know what I would do without you guys. The experience here on the board is a Godsend.

Oh Sundi, I totally understand. Sometimes it is still so overwhelming after 15 months. It feels like so much, taking care of yourself, your family, working full time and recovering from a MAJOR surgery. I have had to learn the hard way not to try to be super woman. Its okay to spend a day in your pajamas and watch trashy TV. Just take care of yourself and it will be better soon

You are doing a lot sweetie and your being tired is very normal. Just follow the advice given by the others and if you are concerned about the pain by all means call your Dr. They are not bothered at all and that is what they are paid for too and would rather you check with them then to wait too long.
Hang on girl it does get better...for me the 8-9 week period seemed to be better.
God bless you,
Joan M
Make sure you are getting at least 50gms of protein a day, and taking your vitamins.
Everyone here knows I am a HUGE proponant of Vista Vitamins, they are the best on the market for Gastric Bypass. I know that when I take my vitamins I feel 100% better than when I miss a dose.
They are very much worth the money, and average out to about 1.18 per day.

Take some rolled turkey and cheese with you to work. Also you might want to try some nuts, almonds and such, as they will make a big difference. Just try to eat some sort of protein every 3 hrs at least, and keep drinking as you will feel better when you are hydrated.
Just try to keep up your protein, vitamins and water...propel is great for electrolytes as you will be able to tell the difference if you do that!
Vistas also come in chewables, which I did for 3 months, take one with each meal
Feel Better!!!! PRaying for you!!!
