Ok Ladies.... I'm on Birth Control Pills I'm 4 months post op and I have had normal periods minus the month following surgery. However, this month I noticed some spotting today and my period is not due until next Wednesday. I have been under TREMENDOUS stress the last week so I wonder if this could be causing it??? I guess I'll just keep on keeping on and see what happens. Rachel

Spotting is a sign that youre not absorbing the pill well enough and youre not protected.. I was told the pills werent effective with my malabsorption.. i would call your gyno ASAP and tell them (i use nuvaring and love it) See what the doc says you dont want a baby right now , they say 18 mths talk to you later!!! jen

I also hated the nuvaring. Marcey uses it and likes it too. I got the burning like Becky and a weird discharge (TMI, I know.) Plus my periods were heavier and more painful. Anyway. Double up on protection until your body absorbs it better. Dr. Bour told me the pill was fine. I feel like I am absorbing it pretty well now. Everything is pretty much back to normal. Kathy

I've had no breakthrough bleeding since starting a higher dose pill back in November. This is the first time. I was just wondering if it could be coming from all the stress I have been through! I have had more stress in the last 7 days than I have had in my life!! I wanted to skip my period this month and move on to my new pack nexy week so Aunt Flo wouldn't be around for V-tines day. But, I think she is gonna be here regardless. Do I just go ahead and start the next pack anyway and see if it gets better as I begin to deal with my life! Oh well....Life sucks... Rachel

Stress can and will affect Aunt Flo, so that very well could be it. I am sorry you have so much stress. I can so relate. I hope the stress gets better for you. I use Depo and love it. Some people hate it but I have been on it for 6+ years and have not had a problem. Some people on Depo have a constant Aunt Flo and some do not have one at all. It varies depending on the person. The reason I went on it was that I building up my tolerance to the pill within 3 months of being on it, no matter which one they tried. Talk to your doctor about Depo. And your surgeon if you have any question about the absorption of the pill. Good Luck. I hope this helps. Julie

Best thing to do is switch from pills, rings, patches all that mess to an IUD like me. Oncesits there its there nothing to worry about. Cheaper too. I have 2 birthcontrol babys so I fianlly got the big daddy IUD. It makes things a lot easyer plus no ups and downs with weight

Not true about the IUD "once its there theres nothing to worry about" i had one for a year and after surgery started bleeding non-stop.. got an u/s and found out my IUD was inbedded in my cervix the whole time and they never knew. Could of caused permenant damage but i wont know until something happens.. not to mention it was hell getting it put it and caused me to bleed profusively, which i assume is because it was in my cervix and not my uterus.. Bottom line: no birth control is perfect. Even women get pregnant with IUD's. There is no rhyme or reason to why IUD's work other than the fact of there is a foreign object in your uterus that tried to keep it from getting pregnant.. sooo anyways.. Rachel i think yours is probably stress related.. and looks like we'll be having aunt flow together! Happy V-tines day!! jen
