I'm going on 7 months out and down a total of 94 pounds..... should I have lost more? My highest weight was 240 and I'm sitting at 146... I just feel like I'm loosing sooo slow but guess that is a given since I can't do protein suppliments so I try to get all mine from my food... which isn't much cause I still throw up even after all this time.... doesn't matter how little I eat or if it's chewed till there's nothing else I still throw it up and hear like a popping sound coming from my left side each time... anyway that's my lil update... How are all y'all doing ? Stephie

Sounds like you are right on track. How tall are you? I'm 5'2 started at 235 and now weigh 174. I have lost 61lbs in 4.5 months. My doctor wants me at 66lb lost by 6 months which would be right at 60%. According to my doctor, you should be at about 70% loss of your excess weight. I think you are doing ok. About the throwing up, check with you doctor you might have a stricture!!! Rachel

I agree with Rachel, talk to your doc about the throwing up... I'm almost 8 months out and I started at 329 and am stuck for 1 month or more @ 236 i**** is right around 113 ibs. I feel like I am a loser because of this stall I am in, it is really slowed since December. I have about 46 lbs to go and I don't think I am gonna get there. I am not good with my protein and just in the last 2 weeks have I exercised, so I have no one or nothing to blame but me. If this helps you, Dr Bour said after 6 months an average of 1-2 lbs a week is appropriate. I am sorry for being the sad sack tonight! I did do 2 hours..yes 2 hours of cardio, pilates and step with upper body weight training. I cannot believe I can do 1 hour, forget about 2 but I did it!!!!! Now I think I will collapse!!! You take care, Patti

Stephie after all you have been through with your husband and the stress there I would definately check in with the surgeon to be checked out for a stricture or ulcer. You weight loss is great! Wow...you should be close to goal and is there a reason why no protein supplements? How is your husband doing now? In Christ, Joan M

Hi Joan David is home finally but still not doing great... he's having to be on blood thinners for 6 mos and right now his blood isn't thin enough as they would want... but he's trying so hard to keep up the walking and all..... right now we're jumping through hoops trying to get him signed up for his ssi and medicade.. things are just so complicated ... I will talk to my doc about the throwing up... but I don't see him till July, all the protein I have tried just makes me throw up more.... I can't even handle the bars, once I tasted the protein I start to get sick... thanks bunches Stephie

94 #s AT 7 MONTHS IS ABSOLUTELY GREAT! STATISTICALLY, YOU'RE RIGHT ON TRACK. I'M A "SLOW LOSER" BECAUSE OF MY HEART MEDS & IT TOOK ME A YEAR TO LOSE 100 #s, WHICH IS TWICE AS LONG AS "NORMAL". THE ISSUE IS THAT YOU SHOULDN'T BE THROWING UP THIS FAR OUT. YOU NEED TO SPEAK WITH YOUR SURGEON & MAYBE GET SCOPED TO MAKE SURE THE OPENING IS LARGE ENOUGH & THAT THERE ARE NO OTHER ISSUES CAUSING THIS. I MAY HAVE MISSED YOUR POST, BUT HOW IS YOUR HUSBAND DOING NOW? GOD BLESS YOU & YOURS ... DAWN & NICk

Hi Dawn, I mainly think it's all the stress I'm under right now causing me to throw up so much... but I will talk to my doc about it... Hubby is home, he's on blood thinners and alot more meds, right now we're trying to get him signed up with alot of stuff that can help out with the bills and costs of his meds.... they're running around 615.00 a month on some and we just can't afford that.... he's also a US Vet so maybe they can help us on this as well.... *hugs* Stephie

SO GLAD THAT HE IS BACK HOME ... SINCE HE'S FORMER MILITARY, CAN'T YOU GET HIS MEDS THROUGH EXPRESS SCRIPTS? THEN, YOU ONLY PAY A CO-PAY, ANYWHERE FROM $3.00 to $27.00, I THINK IT IS. ALSO, IT MAY BE A PAIN TO SIT & WAIT, BUT IF YOU TAKE YOUR PRESCRIPTIONS TO THE BASE PHARMACY, IF YOUR PARTICULAR MEDICATION IS IN THEIR "FORMULARY", THEN THE MEDS ARE FREE. HAVE YOUR DOC CHECK OUT THE MILITARY FORMULARY TO SEE WHAT IS COVERED. EDDIE (here on the board) IS A NURSE AT THE VA HOSPITAL ... MAYBE HE WOULD HAVE SOME ADVICE FOR YOU. AS FOR SOCIAL SECURITY DISABILITY, WE WERE TOLD THAT IT IS BETTER TO GET HIS VA DISABILITY % 1st (I have no idea if this is true for a medical condition after retiring - call your VA office & ask them), THEN SOCIAL SECURITY WILL FOLLOW THE VA's %, ESPECIALLY IF HE IS RATED AT 100 % DISABLED. ALSO, DON'T BE SURPRISED IF HE IS DENIED SS DISABILITY THE 1st TIME. FOR SOME DAMN REASON (I tried to help a dying friend so I don't have warm & fuzzy feelings as to how they treat people in need), THIS IS "NORMAL". I'D SUGGEST THAT YOU TALK WITH AN ATTORNEY WHO SPECIALIZED IN SS ISSUES TO MINIMIZE THE STRESS LEVEL OF GOING THROUGH THE GOVERNMENT RED TAPE. JUST TO SHOW YOU HOW REDICULOUS THEIR "1st TIME DENIAL) CAN BE ... OUR FRIEND WAS DYING OF CANCER. SHE NEEDED THE SS DISABILITY DESPERATELY. THEY SENT HER THE "NORMAL" 1st DENIAL & SHE DIED A WEEK LATER ... SO, OBVIOUSLY, HER MEDICAL CONDITION HAD WARRANTED AN APPROVAL THE 1st TIME. WHEN HER HUSBAND CALLED SS, THEY ACTUALLY TOLD THE GRIEVING HUSBAND THAT IT WAS "POLICY" TO DENY ALMOST ALL CLAIMS THE 1st TIME. &, THEY WONDER WHY PEOPLE GO "POSTAL". SO, TALK WITH AN ATTORNEY SO YOU CAN JUMP BETTER THROUGH THOSE RED-TAPE HOOPS! GOD BLESS YOU & YOURS ... DAWN & NICK PS: PLEASE TALK WITH YOU DOCTOR SOON; DON'T WAIT TILL JULY!
