Hi all, I first want to say thank you to all who inquired about me and prayed for me during my difficult time. I'm feeling much better complete with eating and drinking liquids and boy does it feel good. I have much more energy now and I'm ready to get back to my life. I have a slight dilemma that I was hoping you all could help me with. My anniversary is this Saturday (yep I got married on St.Patty's day) and one of my husband and I tradition is to get plastered. I was wondering if it is safe to have a drink or two being only 2 mths out? I know I wont be able to toss back any green beers but is an apple martini or two ok? I also noticed that you all spoke about bringing your own drinks to MB but often stated that you had liquor (SP) what is SP? Should I purchase a special kind of apple martini mix if it's ok to drink? You would think if I had to ask all these questions I should just avoid it but I really don't want to break our little silly tradition. We usually go to Savannah and attend the St.Patty's day events there and just have a great time laughing and letting go. Should I just sit this one out and drink some diet lipton green tea and call it a day? Help Saturday is right around the corner! Robin

(sp?) = spelling? They did not know if they were spelling the names right. I know you want to celebrate your anniversary, but I think it may be too early to try alcohol yet. Most of the mixers are laced with sugar and any diet soda could hurt your pouch because of the caffeine and carbonation. If you really want it, please be really really careful. You don't want to ruin your anniversary by being sick. Maybe bring along some crystal light and see if they will mix it for you. Kathy

Hi Robin... I am so glad you are feeling and doing better. You were in my thoughts constantly. I agree with Kathy. It is a little early to try alcohol. Dr B says 6 mths if you must. Some of us have tried it at about 4 mths. But not this early out. The pouch is still healing and your body is adjusting to the change. I was very scared to try it even at 5 mths out and just had 1 jello shotter. It will hit you like a ton of bricks. Some people have found sugar free mixers on the internet but I have been staying with wine. Happy Anniversary! That is my 1 year anniversary for surgery. Yep, WLS on St. Patty's day by an Irish surgeon. So happy you are doing better Julie

Dope I guess I should have figured out the SP! Thanks hun. Yeah I figured it was a bit too early but once I started feeling better I felt like hitting the ground running. I finally feel like my old self minus the heavy over-eating. I'm not much of a drinker and honestly only drink on our anniversary (I guess that's why I get plastered huh?). Well, I'll shake up the bottle of my diet lipton green tea and pretend the tiny bubbles are the top of my green beer. I think I'll heed the warning cause I don't want to do anything to make me feel the way I have for the past 2 months. Happy upcoming anniversary to you too Julie, that is so funny that you had your surgery on St.Patty's day by our favorite Irish man. My Dad is Irish too, that's why I got married on St.Patty's (yes, I'm bi-racial don't know many black Irish men ) This is our 6th year anniversary but we've been together for 11 years. We will play this one down a bit and try something new, change is good I now realize. Love you all and thanks for the advice. Robin

Hey Robin! so glad youre feeling better!!! I did try alcohol that soon , but it was mixed drinks.. and it didnt really bother me. BUT With all the problems youve had, i dont know that i would risk it just yet. Maybe try one drink and see how it goes. One would probably have you giddy lol Happy anniversary!!! jen
