gyms in Goose Creek/Summerville
Hi Nicole. Congrats on the surgery date. I just recently had surgery on 1/10/07 and have lost about 51lbs. I joined Pivotal Fitness on Old Trolley Rd over the weekend. They are open 24hrs Mon-Fri and also are open on weekends, but I don't remember their hours. I got a 2yr membership w/ optional tanning pkg for a total of $59/mo. They were very nice and there is even a ladies only area. The price for a 2yr membership w/o the tanning pkg is $39/mo. Here is their # if you are interested: 843-486-5540. Good luck with everything. Depedning on how everything goes with your surgery, you should have no trouble exercising afterwards. I have been working out since 2wks post op!
Good Morning Nicole
I belong to World Fitness in Goose Creek. I like them and they have a nice kids area for my little one.
I'm not sure what the rates are, I paid for 2 yrs.
The also have a ladies area.
Goose Creek also has the rec center gym that a couple of ppl belong to and that is like $35 a year if u are a Creek resident. Pretty darn Great price............
Sorry no #'s-
Take your time and check everything out ' cause u might need to take it easy after surgery for awhile.............

Hi Nicole,
I also recommend Pivotal Fitness. It is on Trolley Road right beside Burger King. I joined last week and they have everything for $39 a month if you do a two year contract (and if you move 25 miles or more away you can discontinue your contract). That was important to me as my husband is in the Air Force and no telling when we will get orders. Anyway they have over 50 classes a month like many dance and aerobics, yoga, pilates, cycling and Nia. Childcare is included. I LOVE IT!! They have tons of equipment. It is the biggest and best gym I have ever been to. I highly recommend it.

Thanks a lot! I wish Pivotal Fitness were closer to my house. I work in Moncks Corner and live in Goose Creek. I am concerned that if I have to go all the way to Old Trolley that I would blow off going to the gym. I know that I am going to have to work hard, but I am going to try to make it as easy on my self as possible so that I'm not tempted to skip out.

Hi Nicole. I go to the Goose Creek Rec Gym and it is well kept up and nice. They have child care on designated days. It is only $35/year and well worth it.
Look on the City of Goose Creek web site for a link and see what you think. If you are interested we can work out together down the road....

CONGRATS ON YOUR SURGERY DATE! NOT TO WORRY ... WE ALL WONDERED IF WE WOULD FAIL ... YOU'RE "NORMAL" JUST LIKE THE REST OF US. BUT, YOU ARE SO RIGHT, WE DO USE FOOD UNWISELY, OTHERWISE WE WOULDN'T HAVE BECOME OBESE. NOT BEING ABLE TO PHYSICALLY EAT LARGE AMOUNTS OF FOOD DUE TO THE TINY SIZE OF YOUR POUCH IS A REAL HELP AS IT GETS YOU IN THE HABIT OF PORTION CONTROL AUTOMATICALLY.
LOSING THE WEIGHT QUICKLY ALSO ENCOURAGES YOU TO "DO THE RIGHT THING" AT THE FRIG.
BUT, LEARNING OTHER COPING SKILLS IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY ... I'M ALMOST 17 MONTHS OUT & NOT RUNNING TO FOOD STILL BECOMES AN ISSUE, BUT IT IS NOW EASIER TO STOP MYSELF JUST OUT OF HABIT. I ALSO SHOP DIFFERENTLY SO EVEN IF I GRAB FOOD WHEN I'M STRESSED, IT'S SOMETHING HEALTHY LIKE A PROTEIN BAR. MY FOCUS IS STAYING AROUND NO MORE THAN 1,000 CALORIES A DAY WITH PROTEIN BEING MY MAIN SOURCE.
YOU'LL DO GREAT!
AS FOR EXERCISING ... IT TAKES ABOUT 3 MONTHS FOR YOUR INSIDES TO HEAL FROM THE SURGERY. YOU CAN START WALKING OR USING A TREADMILL OR STEPPER AS SOON AS YOU FEEL UP TO IT, BUT DON'T WORRY IF YOU ARE JUST PLAIN EXHAUSTED. IT'S COMMON AFTER SURGERY & BECAUSE YOU ARE ONLY EATING A COUPLE HUNDRED CALORIES A DAY IN THE BEGINNING.
NORMALLY, YOUR DOC WILL RELEASE YOU AROUND 4-6 WEEKS TO DO STRENUOUS EXERCISES INCLUDING WEIGHTS. MANY GET ANXIOUS BECAUSE THE WEIGHT IS COMING OFF SO FAST THAT THEY WANT TO JUMP RIGHT IN TO THE EXERCISES, BUT REMEMBER, YOU'VE HAD ORGANS SEVERED & THEN REATTACHED ... THAT IS MAJOR SURGERY EVEN THOUGH YOU MAY NOT HAVE A MAJOR SCAR IF YOU HAD IT DONE LAP.
EASY DOES IT ... YOU NOW HAVE YOUR ENTIRE LIFE AHEAD OF YOU!
GOD BLESS YOU ... DAWN & NICk
