April Showers.....bring May Flowers and it keeps raining here in Baaahhhston (Boston) lol
and....... I GOT A DATE FOR MY PLASTIC SURGERY FOR MAY 22nd!! yay!
omg! I am terrified and excited and anxious and going to be making payment for the next 5 years (hopefully I will pay it off sooner) and hopefully I will heal very fast and get to visit by mid summer? I just dont know? I just know that for the next month plus I need to focus on my health and being brave and doing all the right things so my body is prepared and my mind is too...
and I need to figure out what to tell my job, and what NOT to tell them and how to get short term disability? can I get Short term? do I qualify? anyone know?
yay...
xoxo

First, congrats on your date. Not long at all....I don't know about the disability questions, but I would think if you have surgery it would be....
Mary always cares/worries about all of us and we all love her dearly. I am so glad to have made such a wonderful friend (and she is a "keeper").....

Jess,
that is so sweet. Thanks. May is what my Grandmother called me. I was supposed to be named may, but was changed to Mary at the last minute.
From my experience, and you saw how extensive my surgery was, short term disability was not needed because recovery was fairly easy. I had my surgery on a Thursday and came back to work Monday. I do have a sedentary desk job. I was not allowed to lift anything over ten pounds and I'm still in a sports bra 24/7. This surgery was so easy compared to others. I have a reduction and lift at the same time. Dr Harvey removed 2.2 pounds from the left one and 2.8 pounds from the right one.
Mary

Yes you can get Short Term Disability. And you are not obligated to tell your boss what type of surgery you are having. You do have to tell them you are going to be out and you are not sure how long and they will have to give you some paperwork to send in to the dr and insurance co. while you are out. The insurance co with know but they dont share the information with your boss either....or they are not allowed to do so anyway.
Good Luck,
Jennifer
