Does anyone have any surgeons they recommend in Columbia, Sc area?

I would really like to know about some first hand experiences that you might have had with surgeons in my area. (Columbia, SC). I am not sure if tricare will let me pick out my own; but in case I would like to have some good info. I know that I am jumping the gun a little (well alot prob.); since my first initial meeting with my PCP is not until Tuesday(April 17th) and I have even been approved yet for the surgery. (oh please God I want this sooo bad). I would just really like to know about some of the physicans in this area. Also would love to hear from people out there with Tricare and who you were allowed to use. Thanks so much!! JJ

My surgeon was James Givens, from the Riverside Surgical Group in West Columbia. They operate in the Lexington Memorial Hospital ...I have to say they are VERY GOOD. They have the highest accrediation available and the operation seems to be run very professionally. There are 3 surgeons ...Givens, Strickland and Antonelli, in the practice. The phone number is 803-791-2828 I don't know anything about tricare. My insurer is Blue Cross/Blue Shield and they were very easy to work with. Good luck

JJ..I also go to Riverside Surgical at Lexington Medical Center and my surgeon was Dr. Strickland. Love the ofc and the staff there...have never had a problem with them at all. Check my profile...you just missed our monthly support mtg the first Wed of the month at 6pm...call the ofc and tell them your insurance and they will take the ball from there. Hey, lots of people from Columbia go to MUSC, you can call them and get info. I know some of the ladies go to Lexington, but their doc has this pre op diet that Dr Byrne in Charleston does not beleive in. Thank God for me, I did not have to do it, because I could not have....but the only thing I can say, is if I had, I would have not had a bad time getting off caffiene and the head hunger so badly. Just check them all out and pray about it, God will lead you Blessings!! Deborah
