What I Did On My "Home Alone Weekend"
A few weeks ago, when I realized I was going to be
home
alone
for a long weekend, my mind raced with happy thoughts of all I could enjoy ... catching up on my DVD rentals, uninterrupted ass-sitting in front of my computer, reading, CLEANING my house(!), Dave Matthews could sing as loudly as he wanted to from my CD player ... then the yard sale/thrift shop Saturday with Kathy was planned, and I was sure I could get several someones to meet me somewhere during the weekend for some good talk and a few drinks. Whooooo!
I was so excited.
Then on Wednesday, the germs took over.
When my husband left on Thursday, I was having chills from a fever that didn't leave me alone until sometime in the middle of the night last night. I have used an entire jumbo-sized box of Puffs, and I've shuffled from my bed to the recliner in the den ... and back again, for 3 days and nights. I am thanking God that I had my bladder surgery last December ... because I am coughing like a ... whatever coughs a LOT. And at least I stay dry now, if you get my not-so-subtle drift.
All that to say ... this morning, I think I'm going to live. That's the good news. The bad news is: My "Home Alone Weekend" SUCKED.
The only positive thing to come from all of this is ... I weighed myself this morning, and I'm 2 pounds down from where I was frozen for the last 6 weeks. YESSSSS.
I didn't start my 30-day thing when y'all did ... I have been too sick to get on my treadmill. So my start day will be tomorrow. 30 days from Tuesday will be my one-year-since-surgery mark, and I would LOVE to be 10 pounds lighter by then. Highly unlikely, this late in the game, so I will settle for 5 pounds. To make that happen, I will have to exercise every day, and really make that commitment to cut down the carbs and bump up the protein. Hold me to it, will y'all?
Hope everyone had a lovely weekend ... the weather has been beautiful here, and I've missed it.
I'm hoping to get outside today and get my flowerpots on the deck ready for this year's flowers.
Looking forward to UPS tomorrow night ...
