Not too nosey! My surgeon (Dr. Bour) has a program fee of $2500 which covers liquid shakes for 4 weeks, nutirtionists, psychologist, etc. This fee is nonnegotiable and is part of the package in order to be considered for surgery with his office. Stupid, but the only one in SC that does lap-band that my insurance works with. He is still out-of-network for me, but because no one in my network does this surgery, they will cover it as a network benefit. I have paid 850 so far. After the surgery, I have insurance co-pays and dedecutibles that will add significant money to that.

Hi Heidi! CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I am so happy to hear your news! I am also a patient of Dr. Bour and am very pleased with my results! They did a great job ! Just wanted to bring your attention to something . You might want to get clarification of the $2500. I had to pay that as well but it DID NOT COVER the shakes or any of the protein suppliments. Your situation may be different b/c you are having the band, I had Roux-n-y, but be sure and ask for clarification. I wouldn't want to be surprised when you get ready to receive your optifast and they ask you for more $$. It is my understanding that the $2500 pays for the process of your paper work and pays ahead for your physch visits and all your nutrition classes and support groups. I still have to pay my insurance co-pays when I go for an office visit but everything else is covered. At the end of last year I got a slight refund on what was overpaid between me and the insurance company. Good luck... I know it is a lot of money but his expertise and the wrap around services are well worth it. I know people who have used other surgeons and they feel like they are out there on their own once the surgery is done. You should never feel like that at Dr. Bour's office. Take care, Leisa 280/169/150 (19 to go!!!)

I have to say, you are freaking me out with that! My paper for enrollmet fee says: This fee covers all behavioral health, nutiriton counseling, groups, and the optifast program. It says right on here includes presurgical optifast. ????
