I SURE DID MISS THAT ABOUT "GOAL" WEIGHT ... SORRY FOR ANY CONFUSION I CAUSED WITH THAT, MS SUUZ.
THE ONLY PROBLEM WITH THAT FOR ME RIGHT NOW IS THAT I'M SHOOTING FOR 118 - 125 WHICH WOULD MEAN MY DAILY PROTEIN GOAL WOULD BE 59 - 63 GRAMS A DAY ... &, I KNOW THAT IS WAY TOOOOO LOW FOR ME.
I UNDERSTAND THE 600 - 800 CALORIE ISSUE FOR 4 - 6 MONTHS POST-OP BEING NORMAL, BUT WHAT I'M CONSISTENTLY HEARING IS THAT IF YOU ARE GOING THROUGH A LONG STALL LIKE I AM, MY BODY MAY BE ONE OF THOSE THAT "THINKS" I'M "STARVING" IT BY GIVING IT THAT FEW CALORIES THIS FAR OUT ... IF SO, THEN BY EATING THAT FEW CALORIES, I WOULD ACTUALLY BE CAUSING MY OWN STALL. THE ONLY WAY TO FIND OUT IS TO UP MY CALORIES WITH PROTEINS, PREFERABLY LOW/NO FAT PROTEINS LIKE SHAKES ... IF I BEGIN TO GAIN WEIGHT, THEN OOPS, GOTTA DROP BACK THE CALORIES/PROTEINS ...
I'M ALSO FINDING THAT THE FEWER PROTEINS WE TAKE IN FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME HAS A VERY LARGE EFFECT ON WHEN & HOW MUCH HAIR WE LOSE. SO FAR, I'M NOT LOSING ANY ... BUT, READING ON bariactriceating.com I FOUND THAT LADIES WHO INCREASED THEIR PROTEIN TO AT LEAST 80 GRAMS A DAY NOT ONLY STOPPED HAIR LOSS BUT BEGAN HAVING REGROWTH & BETTER CONDITION.
SO, I'M THINKING THE 600 - 800 CALORIES / 60 GRAMS OF PROTEIN EQUATION WORKS AT THIS POINT IN THE JOURNEY UNLESS YOU'RE IN A MAJOR STALL, THEN ONE MUST "FEED" THE BODY WITH QUALITY & QUANTITY IN CALORIES & PROTEINS. I HOPE I'M GETTING THIS RIGHT. WELL, I'LL FIND OUT REAL SOON CUZ I ORDERED 3 DIFFERENT TYPES OF PROTEIN POWDERS + ALL WAY NON-FLAVORED PROTEIN ... &, I'M GONNA SHOOT FOR 80 GRAMS OR MORE A DAY & NO LESS THAN 800 CALORIES UP TO 1,000 ... I'LL BE SURE TO LET EVERYONE KNOW HOW IT WORKS. THE PRODUCTS SHOULD ARRIVE IN ABOUT 3 DAYS.
I HOPE I HAVEN'T TOTALLY CONFUSED YOU, MS SUUZ, & THE ENTIRE BOARD HERE! TIME WILL TELL! I CAN'T DO WORSE THAN I'VE DONE NOT LOSING ANYTHING THESE LAST 4 WEEKS!

Dawn I don't know anything about anything until I go through it. And what may work for one might not work for another. I just didn't want you to miss what she said in case it would be helpful. I've never been to a nutritional class or seen the surgeon yet so I'm not trying to advise anyone. Just trying to be helpful. I might as well not say anything until I go through it huh? Oh well, so much for my two cents. I hope you break the stall soon. I know it's sort of discouraging but I remember reading a post where you went through a stall before and you said your organs and body were trying to catch up to the shrinking process or something like that. Maybe that's what happening now. Like I said ... who am I to suggest anything. I'm sure if you keep the faith you will begin to lose again soon.

I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY APPRECIATED YOURS & EVERYONE'S INPUT. I WAS AT MY WITS END LAST WEEK ON THIS SUBJECT (STALL) CUZ I KNOW, WITHOUT A DOUBT, THAT THIS SURGERY WORKS ... &, IT JUST SEEMED TO STOP WORKING. AARRGGHH!
YOU WERE SO RIGHT ... I TOTALLY MISSED THE "GOAL WEIGHT" ... I WAS USING "CURRENT WEIGHT" WHEN CALCULATING PROTEINS ... BIG DIFFERENCE!
YEAH, ONE OF THE GENTS ON THE OCT BOARD MENTIONED THE SHRINKING & I DID HAVE A BIGGGGG SHRINK IN MY HIPS & THIGHS BETWEEN THE 1st & 2nd WEEKS, BUT NOTHING SINCE ... OR, AT LEAST, NEITHER NICK NOR I HAVE NOTICED ANY CHANGES FOR ABOUT 2 - 3 WEEKS.
YOU BETTER SUGGEST ANYTHING YOU CAN THINK OF TO ANYONE IN NEED, SWEETIE ... THAT'S THE ONLY WAY WE ALL MAKE IT THROUGH THIS LIFE-CHANGING, BUT CHALLENGING JOURNEY! YOU HAVE JUST AS IMPORTANT THOUGHTS & SUGGESTIONS AS ANYONE ELSE ... &, AGAIN, I DO APOLOGIZE IF I MADE YOU FEEL YOU DIDN'T!!!!!!

I'VE BEEN USING SCALES FROM DAY ONE & IT HAS SAVED ME SOOOOOO MANY TIMES. I'VE ALSO BEEN USING A SPREADSHEET TO ENTER ALL MY FOOD ITEMS & NUTRIENT BREAKDOWNS. IT'S A MUST CUZ IT'S TOO EASY TO FALL BACK INTO OLD HABITS.
I DON'T THINK YOU'RE BEING FANATICAL; I THINK YOU'RE BEING VERY WISE.
