Dr. Strickland was my surgeon, but a good friend of mine had Dr. Antonetti & loved him. Now that you have recieved your approval, I would just call Riverside & tell them you got your approval & wanted to get your date scheduled asap, so you can plan around it & that will get them moving. I found that I had to call them regularly to keep things moving forward, they have a tendency to let files sit around on desks way too long... You can call them anytime and just tell them you want an update on your status! Congratulations on your approval...

I had the DS and LUV IT!!!!! There is not a DS surgeon in SC. I traveled to the Atlanta area for Dr. Dennis Smith. My insurance even paid the in network price since we have DS surgeons in SC.

Thank you for your info. this Friday (July 10th) I got approved also. Now I am waiting for surgery date. Who was your doctor? IMine will be Dr. Antonetti. He seems very nice and reassured me every time he talked to me. How long did it take them to assign you a surgery date? Do you get to give any input on the date?

WOW! Before 7:05 AM, yesterday, there were over 150 people lined up in front of Dave& Buster's, Duluth in metro Atlanta to get their shot to be on season 9 of NBC-TV's "THE BIGGEST LOSER!"

I had BC/BS of SC but not thru the state & they paid 90% of my surgery. Weather they approve you or not is not based on the insurance Company itself but on the plan that your employer chose. You need to check the specifics of your company's plan. If it doesn't have an exclusion for WLS then you need to call them and find out what the requirements for WLS surgery are, if it has an exclusion there is nothing you can do. but if they don't you need to meet their requirements. Good luck...

I did the 5 day pouch test while on a plateau at about 7 or 8 months & it worked great for me not only did it break my stall, but not eating any carbs for 5 days got rid of the carb cravings I was experiencing. But I did the pouch test to a T, i did not cheat. It kind of brought me back to the basics. Good luck with it...
