Hi all, I've got 2 weeks to go till my day!!!! I'm nervous and excited! I'm so scared that I won't do something right when I get home post-op. I'm trying to stay busy working and playing "taxi mom". I am so nervous I just don't feel like I can get enough to eat these days! I've stopped the sweets and the Cokes. Trying out protein drinks. (got some samples from Vitalady). Basically planning my attack. I have my preop appointment with the nutritionist and the admitting department at Centennial next week. Definitely not looking forward to the 2 days of clear liquids before surgery! I just wi**** would get here! I'm so ready to start this journey! Impatiently waiting! Janie

Janie, You'll do great! You and the nutritionist will go over everything in your manual at your nutritional appointment. Jill or Pam will make sure you understand everything in your manual. They will probably have you drink the protein drinks that they recommend. I think they're recommending the unjury powder that you can mix with milk or water now. When I had surgery, the drinks they made us drink were these horrible fruity concoctions that I just couldn't tolerate the taste of.... Anyways, you'll do great. Don't worry. Continue to focus on your diet too. I actually gained 8lbs the month between my consultation and actual surgery...but also too, I started my period the day I had surgery..so I'm sure some of it was water retention. That is something I regret...gaining weight prior. Starting an exercise regimen now will make it an easier transition for you after surgery and make you stronger for actual surgery. It will also help you kill time while waiting Exercise as much as possible during the first 6 months, you'll be grateful you did after 6 months. The weightloss definitely starts slowing down after that point. Alot of other surgeons require weeks of liquids prior to surgery...you and I have/had it made with only 2 days. Beforehand, I cleared out my pantry and refrigerator of all edible foods and made my husband eat outside the house, not around me. It made it a lot easier. At any rate, if you have any questions... just let me know! I love being able to share my experiences. April

Janie, I know you are excited beyond words. I can remember the days leading up to surgery and how excited, scared and had such a mixture of emotions. You will do great and I wish you all the best.

Thanks so much for your encouragement and well wishes! Mixed emotions definitely describes my feelings these days! I'm excited one minute and petrified the next!!! April, I'm afraid of gaining too! I weighed the other day and I had only gained 2 pounds. Had not lost anything, which I didn't expect to anyway. Did you exercise or anything before surgery??? I'm so depressed and tired. I know I'm doing something about my weight but I'm so tired all the time. I think you're right though. I can do the treadmill instead of sitting around here being all depressed. Thanks for the advice. I may have more questions for you. Did you feel like you could eat the side of a barn before surgery???? I just can't seem to get full. I suppose it's all nerves! Thanks all!!! I'll keep you posted! Janie
