Employers in TN that cover WLS?

Hi Beth! Thanks for the info. My dh is trying to get a job with TTU and hopefully he will get it because I believe they have state ins. We only have a local T-mobile store here, not a call center. I wonder if they offer the same ins plan? Anyways, thanks for responding. I am desparate to have this surgery. My health has deteriorated and my doctor said I really need to get it or I won't live long.

Hi Tammy! Just wanted to say hello!  I'm not too far from you--Cookeville--we actually used to live there! Hope your husband gets the job at TTU.  It's a great place to work--I've been there several years now!  My insurance through TTU is CIGNA.  TTU's insurance plans are the same as the State of Tennessee.  I was approved on the first try--I did have to do a 6 mo doc supervised diet.   If you choose Blue Cross Blue Shield, expect to be required to loose 10% of your body weight in order to be approved.  The good news is...YES, TTU's insurance does cover WLS!!!  It is not an exclusion. I work at St. Thomas Hospital, and Baptist is affiliated. We have BCBS of TN and since we are self funded, our employer has chosen to pay for the surgery.  You have to do a 12 week program called Succeed and lose 10% of your overall body weight.  I got denied 2x but then got approved.
