Problem with thighs
I seem to be having a major problem with my thighs after surgery two weeks ago. The right side is healing nicely, still hurts a lot, but the left one is so infected. I had to go to the ER on Saturday because of the infection draining out around the tube and in two other places. I am keeping it clean, and keep the ace wrap on it. I have sanitary pads on it then the wrap to absorb all the drainage from the infection. It's gotten to the point that I can barely stand weight on my leg. The infection has spread to cover the entire area where the stitching is. The pain is worse then when I had the surgery 2 weeks ago. Right now, I wouldn't advise anyone having this surgery, not if you can work out more and get the thighs in better shape. I truly wish I had never had it done. It's been more of a hassle, more pain, and constant infections.
My surgeon wants me at the ER in the morning. That would be a little hard since I am in Morristown area and the VA is in Nashville. I see my pcp here on Thursday. But if this infection doesn't start improving with my being on the Cipro, I won't hesitate to go back to the hospital here.
I had to take 4 dilaudid yesterday. Two at 5pm and 2 at 9pm. No relieve, I even propped my thigh up while I slept, but it still throbbed all night. I don't know what else to do until I get back to the Nashville area.
I'll keep you posted, thanks for the prayers in advance. Love Kathy

Hi gf, there's nothing you can do at this moment. i went back to the ER, they drew blood, but that was all, told to stay on the cipro and the Dilaudid until I see my PCp here tomorrow. They put new peri strips on the worst of it, and this morning, they were off and my underwear is wearing the drainage. Parts are turning green and that scares me, but I don't see my surgeon in Nashville until Monday. The infection is draining the life out of me. All I want to do is sleep.
Love ya, Kathy

This type of infection will draine you and make you very very sick, I have delt with people who have had it when I was in the medical field and my father in law and my mother my stepfather. Hi Sue, it was such a pleasure meeting you on Saturday. It's worse now trying to stand or even walk on it. But I have two appointments tomorrow, get somethings out of my storage unit, and then head home on Friday. That will be a trying day, trying to drive and in constant pain. Hopefully, my PCP can do something when I see him tomorrow afternoon.
I'll see you again in January. Love Kathy

Hi Sherry, I stay off it as much as possible, taking the Cipro and the pain pills, and all i want to do is sleep. I have two appointments tomorrow, pack some things into the van from the storage unit, and then head back to Lebanon on Friday. I don't see the surgeon until Monday. Hopefully, my PCP can do something tomorrow when I see him. I dread the drive home though, because this is so painful, but I have to do it no matter what.
Thank you, love Kathy
