Surgery Date Set
My surgery is scheduled for June 10th at Baptist Hospital with Dr. Lynch. I have been preparing for my surgery for over a year. However, I do have some questions about people that are 3 years or more post op. Are you finding it difficult to keep the weight off? Are you beginning to have any complications due to the surgery?? Anyone there with some info for me???
I'm only 2 years and 4 months post op but I can tell you, I am having no trouble keeping the weight off and zero complications due to surgery or anything else.
The only people I know who are having trouble with regain have all quit following the basic rules.
no drinking with meals
no drinking for 15 minutes before and 30 - 60 minutes after a meal
protein first!!
limit carb, fat, and sugar intake
exercise at least 30 minutes 3 times per week
take your vitamins
drink at least 64 oz of water every day
no smoking
no carbonated beverages
If you will ingrain these rules into your brain from the beginning, they are easier to make a lifelong part of your routine.
Good luck and congratulations on your surgery date.

P E A C E - It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble, or hard work. It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart.
I am only 2 years post op but want to wish you the best on your surgery and journey. Like Susan said just make sure you follow the guidelines. I have had no complications after surgery at all unless you count have my gall bladder removed. The weight has not been hard to keep off, along the way you learn what is good for you and what your pouch can tolerate. The surgery is a tool the big part is making a lifestyle change. I know my life has changed so much for the better. There are bumps along the way you just have to get back up and go again. You have found a great support group here which is important. Congrats on your surgery !
