Hi my name Marilyn. I am from the Oregon forum. Had Lapband done in 05. I need some help. I didn't know where to go. My daughter recently had a guy come to Oregon to start a relationship. Today he mentioned a brand of cornmeal from your state that is excellant. I would like to see if I can find the name and order some to surprise him. Any Ideas?

Martha White or Jiffy? Only southern brands I can think of. C'ya Bob

Try searching for White Lily. White Lily has been helping Southern cooks create incredibly light and delicious foods since 1883. Their flour makes the lightest biscuits. You can buy it online from Smuckers online store. There is a local place called Falls Mill that grinds cornmeal. It comes plain or self-rising. 134 Falls Mill Road Belvidere, TN 37306 (931)469-7161 Hope this helps. Gail

Bet it's Martha White.  It was a sponsor of the "Grand Ole Opry" all my life, and the theme song was done by "Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs".  Besides, it really is good!

Thanks, Bob.  I am up again, but not kicking yet.  The "ordeal" I went through with my back and legs after surgery improved greatly and I went back to work.  Then, it re-occurred.  I am just now coming out of the second one, and I'm going to try going back to work today for 5 hours after being off all last week.  WLS, however, is doing greatly!  I've lost 44 pounds (per my scales) and I'm having no problems whatsoever.  Just can't walk much!!  And awful muscle spasms that migrate across my back.  I appreciate your concern so very much.  It's nice to be missed!  jane

My guess is that it is Martha White self-rising cornmeal mix. Just make sure you get the white cornmeal instead of the yellow and do not put sugar in the batter. If you go to marthawhile.com, there is a link to the Smuckers online store. You can purchase MW cornmeal mix there. When my son lived in a small town in Northern Iowa several years back, I would have to send him care packages of the foods he just couldn't get there. And, any time I made a trip up there, I would take stuff that couldn't be sent by mail or UPS. Many times I would sit in the Bowling Green Krystal at 5:30 A.M. while they cooked up 12 dozen Krystals for me to take to him. Bowling Green is the farthest north you can find a Krystal store. FYI - one dozen Krystals will fit in a gallon Ziploc freezer bag, box and all and they freeze great.

I bet it's Three Rivers.  It's made in Knoxville and is the BEST but if you can get your hands on it good luck because they are on their way to going out of business and lots of people in East Tennessee (including myself) are stocking up on Three Rivers cornmeal and White Lilly flour lol.

Thanks you are right. I knew if I heard the name I would remember it. I looked online only found where I could order it by wholesale. I don't need 40lbs. If you know of a store where I could order smaller amounts that would be great. I was even looking at maybe that brand in a gift basket.
