By now, we all know that in the gastric bypass/weight loss communities, there is something called NSV's (which stands for Non Scale Victories). These are things that happen to us which cause joy and excitement that come from somewhere OTHER than our weight scales... well I decided that this summer, I am going to journal or chronicle MSV's (My Summer Victories). I have been waiting for these summer months for so long! My life has kinda been on "hold" because of winter, and cold weather. I mean, really, my goals did not include skiing, knitting scarves, mittens or sweaters, or even ice fishing. Instead, my goals have included wearing my bikini in public for the first time (since jr high school), washing the car, swimming, horseback riding, going out to the lake, all kinds of things that I hated to do before. I was always SO hot outside, I stayed in the house all the time. Hated sunshine. Could not stand laying out in the sun cause it made me sweat and get over heated. So this weekend, My Summer Victories chronicle began. I spent the weekend outside! Laid out in the sun, got a sunburn, enjoyed every single moment of the sun soaking through all the way down to my bones! I washed the car, went swimming (and didn't freeze to death! wls has made me cold all the time!) Anyway, I also went shopping a lot... I just enjoyed the past few days. Had a cookout...in general MY SUMMER FINALLY GOT STARTED! I am looking forward to more... Here are a few pics (if I can get them to upload right) I think we should all talk about our MSV's over the next few months... Me washing the car Photobucket Me getting in the pool Photobucket

I can understand exactly how you feel. I was off this week and I vacumed out both cars ~ car and a van ~ hand washed both of them then hand waxed both of them, rode my bicycle, swam in the pool, pulled weeds, moped and waxed my living room, dining room, all 3 bathrooms and vacumed the house and went walking. I could have never done all this before I lost weight. I would have just stayed in the house sitting on the couch eating chips and watching tv. It's wonderful to have so much energy.

Melinda you give me so much to look forward to.  You look so great and happy!!!  I would love to hear your stories for the summer.  That would be so much motivation for me since my surgery is June 10th.  I can’t imagine having energy to do something when I get off work in the afternoon.  Sometimes, I think the opportunity I have been give to have the RNY….is unbelievable.  I do not that it has been GOD given.  I believe He is giving me a change to have a life again.  Girl, keep it up!!! By the way, I don’t even dream of wearing a bikini because I just can’t.  Not saying that I don’t want to…just can imagine.

Wow... look at you... smokin' HOT! I've always loved summer but have always been bothered by fatigue in the heat. It would upset me that I couldn't do as much because of my extra weight. I can't wait to actually be able to enjoy it more. I'm so glad that you get to enjoy the summer season the way it should be enjoyed!
