Hey Everybody!!! I am on a journey to have WLS and unfortunatley my insurance company has an exclusion(This Should Be Illegal). So I have been forced to take out a home equity loan in order to pay for the surgery. I have been overweight my entire life. I am 30 years old and 460 pounds but people tell me I don't look that heavy.I have a pre-op consultation setup for April 13th and am extremely excited to start a life that I have never had. Can anyone give me any ideas as to what to expect following the surgery? I know that everyone is different and have different symptoms, but are there any common side things that happen immediatley following the surgery? Thanks for any info you might have. Shannon Collins

Hello Shannon and welcome to OH I'm a newbie too...well, sort of. I just started posting here and I'm pre-op too. I'm in the process of waiting on an approval from my insuranc company. The waiting is the hardest part it seems. There are great resources here and lots of support. Good luck with your consultation on 4/13! Marianne

Hi Marianne, Thanks for the welcome and yes the wait is the worst, the self pay speeds it up a little bit but sometimes I wish I could just pay and do it tomorrow. I know there are proccesses for this kind of thing so I guess I will have to wait. I will pray for the approval on your insurance and keep us up to date on it. Shannon C.

I also am a NEWBIE I feel ya I also have to do a pre pay. Pretty bad when insurance wont pay for a surgery that willhelp more than one problem. on the other had dont mind all the expensive test scans and drugs to get us to this point.to find out what it is ,but they don't like the out come . so there fore we pay That is okey because we will be so much more healthier afterwards, just a long long journey. GOD BLESS. SARINA
