Having a hard time, I need help.....
hiyas Mo, hang in there hon. Yes it is hard but you can do it. Keep your eye on the prize. You know how whenever you went on a diet before there was never an end in sight. Well hon there is now. After your surgery you won't have that hunger plus you will have lost some weight prior to going in. That alone is such an awesome boost. I did the same thing as Lois. I used a protein drink that I got right from Walmart. It has 23 grams of protein and 1g of sugar. I drank it for breakfast and lunch with the occasional subway soup for lunch. Then I had a light dinner usually soup. I lost 22 lbs before surgery so when I have lost 19 lbs after surgery wow I have lost 41 lbs. That is so awesome have I ever done this before....heck no. You are going to be so amazed. Keep your eyes on the prize and in the meantime I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers that it will go by quickly for you!!
Anna
thanks, do you remember the name of the drink from walmart? I think it is getting a little easier as the days are go by. I have been doing lean meats, but I am think about cutting that out as well. Just doing liquids only and soups. I mean this alone will test your strengths. I pray everyday while I am doing this day. I just keep saying to myself that it is all worth it.
Thanks Anna
Mo,
Congrads on getting to this point. I had to do this too. THis is what worked for me.
1. I wanted to lose as much as I could before surgery so when the weight started FALLING off after surgery, it would be from the lowest possible starting weight. I went from 388 to 374 during those two weeks.
2. I want that liver to shrink and be flexible so it did not prevent the surgery from being as successful as it possible could be.
3. The Liver shrinking diet I was on was not completely liquid. It was outlined as follows:
brkfst: Slimfast
snack: water with protein or granola bar (ZONE Perfect brand)
lunch: Slimfast with piece of fruit; usually apple
snack: water with protein or granola bar
dinner: 4-6 oz of lean meat (usually fish, shrimp, sometimes chicken breast)
with all of the raw or steamed vegtables desired ( I used brocolli with
a little cheddar cheese sprinkled on top)
snack: water
YOU CAN DO THIS!!! I know you can! You can do this and feel really good about yourself going in. After surgery, you won't have physical hunger. You may have some physcological demons/cravings, but no physical hunger. It is wonderful!!!
I look forward to hearing about your future successes. Now grit your teeth and press forward. When you want to eat, come to the OH.com website and read all of the success stories to keep yourself motivated. That what I did. 9/26/06 seems so long ago now. In 5 months, I'm down 128 lbs with 100 more to go. If someone as weak willed and addicted to food as I was can do this,...you can have success too.
Joe
Joe,
Thank you so much for this. I want to do this and I want to do this right. As the days are going by it is getting a little easier. My Surgery is next Friday on Mar 2. I have another week to do this and I want to be strong at this. Everybody has been so encouraging to me. I now have this I can do this and I will do this attitude. I promise I will keep you posted.
Thanks
Montego
Mo,
I have my surgeon consult on March 8th so I'm trying to change some of my habits before the surgery. My mom used Ensure protein drinks. The vanilla ones arent that bad. I use Revival Soy Chocolate daydream sugr free. They fill me up using 12 oz of water or milk.
I'll be on my first cruise when you have your surgery, but I'll be praying for you.
You've come this far and I know you will do great.
All the best,
Jennifer
