HEY VIRGINIA ... If I ever needed your help I need it now . On behalf of our very own Christine Hood ( Party Princess ) I am asking for you all to read this for me and let's get together and help our fellow Soldiers at this time of Holiday Cheer and Joy  .  We are collecting to send to the 1500 soldiers deployed from Ft Eustis for Christmas.  Of course our timeline is short as we will be packaging on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.   The items needed for donation are listed below...money is also acceptable.  Checks can be made out to USO of Hampton Roads.  In the Memo section, write "Holiday Cheer for Deployed Soldiers".   NO LATER THAN 20TH OF NOVEMBER.  >  Our verbal requests from soldiers in Theater as well as the Command are as follows: >    >  Hard Candies >  Gum >  Mints >  Jerkey (Variety of assortments) >  Wipes >  Powered drink mixes individualy (presweetened for bottled water, Not Canisters please) >  Portable Toilet paper rolls >  Sunflower seeds >  Nuts (Variety assortments) >  DVD's >  Magazines (appropriate please Poronography is illegal in these countries) >  Books >  Sunglasses (black) >  Books >  Phone Cards >  Quilts homemade for a piece of home!  I challenge each of you to find it in your hearts to donate something . Time is running out ... and I am sure Christine would appreciate it . If you are sending items I have Christines home address, and will send it to you from my email so you can package and send to her  . If you choose to send money to the USO .. that is awesome . Please feel free to email me to let me know how you can help .  Happy Holidays to All !!!   Natalie

Just a note to let all know that Walter Reed Medical Center does not accept any cards or packages addressed to A Wounded Soldier. I had cards returned last year. Read on: Walter Reed Army Medical Center officials want to remind those individuals who want to show their appreciation through mail to include packages, letters, and holiday cards addressed to 'Any Wounded Soldier' or 'A Recovering American Soldier' that Walter Reed cannot accept these packages in support of the decision by then Deputy Undersecretary of Defense for Transportation Policy in 2001. This decision was made to ensure the safety and well being of patients and staff at medical centers throughout the Department of Defense. In addition, the <http://www.wramc.amedd.army.mil/WRResource/SupportRecovering AmericanSoldier.pdf> U.S. Postal Service is no longer accepting "Any Service Member" or "A Recovering American Soldier" letters or packages. Mail to "Any Service Member" that is deposited into a collection box will not be delivered. Instead of sending an “Any Wounded Soldier” letter or package to Walter Reed, please consider making a donation to one of the more than 300 nonprofit organizations dedicated to helping our troops and their families listed on the "America Supports You" website,  <http://www.americasupportsyou.mil/> www.americasupportsyou.mil Other organizations that offer means of showing your support for our troops or assist wounded servicemembers and their families include: <http://www.usocares.org/> http://www.usocares.org/ <http://www4.army.mil/ocpa/tooursoldiers/> http://www4.army.mil/ocpa/tooursoldiers/ <http://www.redcross.org/> http://www.redcross.org

It's wonderful to remember our guys any time.    I go to the USO and help put packages together for "unknown soldiers"  which is allowed.   If anyone is interested in doing this, email me and I'll send you the details.  Great family, group, office, WLS support group event.
