Well, all, I just spent the past three days in the hospital... Remember that EGD that I had done last Tuesday because I was in pain?  Well, apparently, that little staple that invaded my pouch was NOT the problem.  Friday night, the pain returned...with avengence.   I was out of town in PA on a MaryKay retreat.  I suffered Friday night and all day Saturday--convincing myself that I had just had a scope so, it couldn't be anything worrisome.  UGH! Sunday morning, I took a sip of water (less than a tsp) and minutes later, I thought I was going to die.  So, I made my hubby bypass church and go directly to the ER at IFOH.  I got there and they gave me dilaudid for pain and fluids and did a CT scan, chest xray, EKG, etc.   They found nothing...so they were going to discharge me and tell me to come back on Monday for another EGD.  I said...NO.  I told them that they were keeping me until they figured out what was wrong because NO ONE should have that type of pain...period. So, EGD yesterday and lo and behold...there is a large ulcer that was missed last week.  Thankfully, it was found this time and I am being treated.  But, because of my pain and intolerance to food and drink, I was kept until this afternoon to make sure I was all right. So...keep plugging on everyone...and most important...BE AN ADVOCATE for your OWN care...never let anyone tell you there's nothing wrong when you KNOW there is! PEACE!

I am sorry you've had to go through all this. I would have HOPED they'd have found the ulcer the last time around. Mine was pretty dang big AND right at the opening of my pouch which made thigns extra painful. No matter now as I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers that you are healing from this and getting more comfortable a little more each day. That is my biggest thought is to be our OWN best advocate/expert about our bodies because sometimes these docs - we gotta shake 'em to make 'em realize HEY YOU SOMETHING IN HERE JUST ISNT RIGHT! So, good for you on this! Take care and get to feeling better! All best & BIG hugs....

Sorry you have been so ill - how the heck could they miss that with all the tests you have had??? I would be pretty mad if I was you! BUT they have found the problem now and hopefully it will heal and that will be the end of your issues..... You are correct and I always tell people- if you are not an advocate for your own health no-one else will be - you found this out the hard way but it will make you less tolerant next time which is a good thing..... kudos for you to refusing to leave until they sorted it out!! GOOD FOR YOU !!  It is about time we as consumers of our own healthcare stood up for how we feel .  I am so sorry you are going through all of this . It is common to get ulcers . But I can tell you from experience .. ulcers are not something you want to have - when you have had WLS .  You are going to have to be so careful of all that you eat . I would highly reccomend getting your bypass surgeon to prescribe for you some Carifate Liquid . This is a bandaid for your ulcer . It will help you to tolerate foods and your suppliments. He will also probalby give you Nexium .  You must take this as prescribed . I have an ulcer that stemmed from my steroids . And sometimes I forget it is there .. eat something I am not supposed to and suffer for days .. loose weight and have to pack on calories just to get my weight back up . Not good .  I will pray for your healing .. and give you a big Kuddos for taking your health in your own hands ..  Take care ,  Natalie
