Well we are leaving early wed morning for West Virginia - Parkersburg - for a big family get together for Thanksgiving - it will be fun..we will come back probably on Saturday evening or maybe Sunday... I will be taking some of the foods I eat to make sure I am not tempted by things I should not eat....... Thank goodness I am not cooking! I am in the hands of some of the best cooks I could know so it is a no contest - THEY will be making Thanksgiving dinner - southern style! Hope you all have a wonderful thanksgiving Melinda! I am sure by the time it comes you will rise to the occasion! Jackie

Morning Melinda! This year my sis & parents are doing the cooking. Thanksgiving will be at my sis's house. See, last year it was rough for all of us. She was going through her separation and her & her boys had just moved into their apt over the summer and things were tight and I was going through some things and it seemed like we wouldn't do anything but we pulled things together and ALL that mattered was the BEST gift the Lord gives us and that is TIME together with one another. This year things are semi back to normal. So, my sis & parents are putting things together. IF I am feeling up to it I will join everyone. Otherwise, it will be weird being here alone but in a way it'll be fine. It'll give me a chance to "be" and talk with God. Also, the holidays are especially tough and at the same time joyful because my dad's father died Thanksgiving Day and his mother just before Cmas. So, most people enjoy the food and festivities and we are reminded that TIME, love, joy, etc is best enjoyed over all else. Making memories and remembering other times in our lives when my Nanny & Papa were here. Although its been several years since both passed we make a point to remember them and others we've lost and we are reminded we have MUCH to be thankful for in Life. So, know that you are not alone and you are in our thoughts & prayers for sure. One of the things I LOVE about Thanksgiving is that I love taking the time to call and send notes/messages telling others WHY I am thankful for them and also cooking a meal is really very nice. Hard work but the results are wonderful. We are having ham, turkey, mac & cheese, green bean casserole, yams, pies, REAL taters and other yummy stuff. Take care and hope your mood softens cause your smile radiates and I'd really like to know that you are smiling BIG!

Hi Melinda- Oh....don't be down and out.  Instead, reflect on what the holiday really means....to be thankful.  What are you thankful for?  I bet that if you made a list of what you were thankful for, it would far out weight that little guy who sits on our shoulders wearing all black. Ok....for the holiday, I cam going to my sister's house for dinner.  We all gather there and each of us brings something.  So....I'm bringing: Corn bread sausage stuffing Sweet Potato Casserole (full fat version and a lighter version for me) Mac and cheese Cranberry Sauce (reg version and a Splenda version for me) My sisters make everything else...turkey (I'll have some, thank you) green bean casserole (just a little, please), potatoes and gravy (just gravy for the turkey, please), rolls (pass), Carrots (they do a version for me without brown sugar and butter), pumpkin cheesecake (I'll end up with 1 or 2 bites off of hubby's plate) and a bunch of other stuff. I usually take a little of everything that I think I might want, and just pick through it all - of course strting with turkey. BUT....enjoy your holiday!
