Hey girlie! Here is a list of things I took:
toothbrush
toothpaste
hair brush
hair bands/clips
comfy pj's for the trip home
flip-flop slippers
socks
deodorant
comfort bath washclothes for easy bathing/washing of hair
undergarments
information book from doc aka "The Bible"
pics of kiddos
chapstick
pillow
twin sized blanket (I tend to freeze at night in hospitals)
Wish I had brought tongs or something to wrap toilet paper to help wipe after peeing. I had the open surgery and OMG did it hurt to barely bend in any direction. I could barely bend to lift or move myself around in bed without needing to hit the morphine pump (which I insisted they give me).
Ask Cleo how much I walked around the unit. It hurt so bad to sit or lay down that I pretty much walked for hours. I would have to get up about every hour or two during the night to walk because I hurt so bad. Of course I have a very low pain tolorance.
The recliner at home is a must if its an open precedure I was in it as well a lot couldnt lay flat in the bed. Just rested better sitting up in the recliner postions. So if you dont have one you might want to buy one or of course there are the rental centers. Best of luck..

Hi Amanda -
Great tips you've gotten so far! I'm sure you're to do list has a rush on it now so consider pampering yourself and having some great things ready for you when you get home. Since you'll want to keep moving I suggest music when walking & for those restful periods definitely a recliner. Our friend Will was kewl in lending us his which vibrated too! In addition, keep a sweater handy as chills seem to hit us all post op. Make sure you're stocked on protein and can't wait to see you on the losing side. In the meantime, keep asking away with questions. All best.....
