Hey Ya'll! :) I saw on the main board where folks post what they at daily... I was just wondering what goes in our tummy's on a daily basis?  I trying to wrap my head around what life will be like food wise after surgery and trying to imagine what I can eat. I thought it would be strict strict stuff, but from the looks of it, small doeses of healthy choices is going to be it in the catagory of "anything" so I am excited!! Tell me what you eat post op! XOXO Amanda

Amanda- Once you get past the inital few months, it really is anything in moderation. I have a few foods that I personally can't tolerate very well anymore (rice is tricky as is American cheese), but that varies greatly by person. SO....just know that the "what you can eat" is not as strict as the "how much you can eat" part...and honestly, once you get out a bit (I'm at 16 months), that part is the discpline part that you really need to develop early on and change the habits.  SO....I had a really good chicken burger (on a slice of sourdough bread...yum) last night....after having leftover turkey for lunch and protein plus cereal for breakfast. SO....you always have to focus on protein first, but after that, it's all choices and moderation. You're going to do great.....

Amanda ,  For the first 6 to 8 weeks most go on a liquid or pureed diet . Each surgeon is different .  After that you are slowing introduced meats and seafood . Most are going to be protein first , veggies second .. then if you have room .. a carb .  Always remember this equation : PROTEIN + WATER + EXERCISE = WEIGHTLOSS ..  But you must always try to make good choices . I still watch my calories , fats and carbs.. I did not have this surgery to come this far to loose it .. ya know .. and you will be successful if you refuse to fail at this . Will you make mistakes .. of course you will .. we are human .. but you go on and learn from them and do better next time .  Follow your surgeons protocol always . Venture out and try those new foods you may not have tried pre-surgery .. keep it simple and real .. and you will be fine .  Please call on me if you ever need anything .  Natalie

Morning Amanda - My daily eats vary but I have a strong focus on the basics. With the holidays even I know what foods will "help" me and what foods will make me wish I hadn't eaten them. Its all about choices and quality versus quanity. Its avoiding the fat, carby, sugary items and getting in all the "good" foods. Focusing on protein, exercise, water/fluids & vits are important from day one. Know that we're imperfect but that is why we are given a new day to make new & better choices. Leaning on your family/friends here will certainly help ya. All best....
