Sweety .. these are head hunger cravings . You must divert yourself to doing something else once they start . Get up .. take a walk .. go get some water to sip .. grab a book .  Start a journal . Begin writing down when they start .. where you are .. how it makes you feel .  Keep a note of all of this and begin to look at it so you can put a plan in place to maybe eliviate some of the hunger cravings .  So , How do you know you do not dump .. you are only a month out ? You may or may not dump .. but it would be suprising if you do not dump ..  To continue weightloss , one must be willing to :

1. Be accountable for your life .. diet and suppliments

2. Keep your protein levels up up up !!

3. Drink all your water and then some !

4 . Excercise .. you must move to loose

5 . Get 8 hours of sleep .. you gotta rest your motabolism .

You need to make sure that the foods you are putting into your new stomach are good healthy foods . Protein first , Veggies Second .. and if you have room a carb .

The basic formula for weight loss is : PROTEIN - WATER AND EXERCISE !!

I hope this helps you . If you need to chat further , please feel free to email me here on OH .

Good am Sharese -  What type of surgery did you have sweetie? I looked at your profile but cannot see that info. I think that might help with a reply as well.  Also, in my opinion it is head hunger which is definitely expected in our journey. We have to fight through them and remind ourselves why we've had this life saving surgery & truly forge ahead with renewed determination. Think about those 2 dress sizes and how great that feels & set goals for yourself. Instead of 2 dress sizes how about 4? Its quite possible. Getting in protein, water, exercise and vitamins are definitely important. I want to add also that contacting your nutritionist would be another great way to help you move through things a bit smoother but getting more ideas of things you are able to enjoy at this stage in your journey. So, keep your chin up, faith & hope strong & reach out to us and we'll help as best we can. All best & keep us posted.

I posted on your blog, but I will post here as well.  We all have it--head hunger. It's learning the difference between that and the real thing. Along with the other suggestions posted, I would have a sf popsicle when you feel hungry. You can chew on it and it will help satisfy that desire to eat. Plus, it increases your fluid intake!  Remember that the surgery is not on our brains and we must rethink and relearn what we put in our mouth. Perhaps you can meet with a counselor. You are doing great losing 2 dress sizes in one month, WOW!!  Keep up your great work and visit with us often!

You have some great replies and suggestions here.  Figure out what your "cravings" are.  Is it just that you feel hungry & anything sounds good, or are you craving certain things such as sweets, carbs or such.  Although yes we all have head hunger, it is possible to feel real hunger, even this early out.  I was one that experienced this.  The reason why this happened to me, was that my life style (2 jobs) is very busy and although I was following my nutritionists plan, it was not right for me & my body.  I needed to eat more frequently with more calories than most in order to keep my metabolism going so after working with my nut. we developed a slightly different plan for me.  Talk with your nutritionist, keep a food journal, see what you are "craving" or if you are actually hungry. As for the dumping the first question would be what are you expecting to dump with/on?  Are you talking about meats, sugars, dairy, fats?  The sugar & fats should not be a part of your diet excpet in fruits, natural fats in meats, etc.  This is something you have to be commited to in order to succeed.  The meats & dairy, not all people dump with.  If you follow the plan, eat slowly, chew carefully, with lean meats, fruits, & veggies, you may not ever dump.  Some people don't dump or rarely dump, I am one of these and have to be very careful about what I put in my mouth, since I tolerate it.  Others dump easily on certain kinds of meats, fruits, etc. If you are following your plan, getting in the protein, water, exercise, etc.  You will lose weight.  There may be times of stalls & plateaus but that is your body's normal reaction to the weight loss.  It is a life long commitment and takes a lot of dedication & work to achieve the goals.  We are here for you & support you.

Hope you get these cravings under control. I try to substitute the healthy stuff. My cravings tend to be something sweet, usually something sf deters it. Salty, we can find protein snacks that will satisfy the salt craving. Some times its a texture. Brainstorming for different ideas has helped me. Not that I am perfect all the time. When I take time to think it out its much easier.  Hugs, Shannon
