IVC filter

So I have finally gotten a date since my doctor rescheduled me.  Today the nurse called me to tell me that I was going to have to get a IVC filter to help prevent blod clots. Has anyone else heard of this or had one?

Some doctors use these more routinely than others but they are used to prevent blood clots - if you think you may need one and the doctor says so too - just be glad that they are available... Jackie
