GOOOOOOOOOOD NEWS!
So, I saw Dr. Mo today. He switched me to Nexium (from Prevacid) because he thinks that the prevacid is just not doing it's job. That's fine with me...anything that might work is gooooooood.
He switched me from carafate liquid to carafate tablets...thank goodness. He also gave me some new protein guidelines to follow specifically to get this ulcer HEALED!
He said that if the ulcer does not heal with this regimine, that he will treat me as if I have H. Pylori even if the biopsies say I don't. He basically said that if THOSE don't work, there is likely a foreign body that is lodged in there causing the ulcer. In short...there is SOMETHING making it happen and we're going to figure it out come hell or high water!
Dr. Mo also said that it's probably my stricture and it's proximity to the ulcer that's causing my intermittent pain...but, we have to heal the ulcer before we can further dilate the stricture (he wants to 18mm-currently at 16.5) because more dilation could cause the ulcer to perforate (no thanks).
In all, I am happppppppy today because he said NO surgery. He said the only people that he's seen with completely unhealing ulcers have been smokers or those around a lot of smoke. I am not a smoker and don't spend time around smoke of any kind and I don't have many smoker friends. So, yay me!
My total weight loss to date is 76 pounds which is exactly 35% of my excess body weight. I have officially lost 14 BMI points and I could not be more thrilled. Dr. Mo is also thrilled. LOL

That's fantastic news! So glad to hear that things are working out for you - you had such a rocky start, but it IS getting better!
