What Are YOUR Goals For January? And Tips To Get There?

Hi Gang.... As 2008 approaches, many of us are looking at the dreaded New Year's resolutions.  Well, I learned a long time ago that if I was ever going to be successful at changing something it could not be simply because it was New Years (ok...that's me!).  But...if I broke it down into stages, I would be more successful.  They say to be successful in meeting your goals, you need to write them down and have support.  Well...here is a place where you can do both...... Now, while I have many goals that I would like to work on in January, I am only picking one...it is to end the mindless nibbling.  So far, my weight has not been an issue because of the nibbling, but I am recognizing that it is something that I want to end.  You know...the I'm not hungry but have thought about the box of granola sitting in the cabinet so now I want it.  And it's just not granola...it's anything that just pops into my mind. Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can win this one?  Any tips???? What are YOUR goals for January?????

Good Morning Beautiful . Yes .. I am so there with you on the nibbling .. and no weight gain yet .. but you and I both know .. it can happen .

What I have been doing is not buying the crap .. and substituting for other good things like .. Sugar Snap Peas .. with Low Cal Dip .. I swear it works .. no I do not get the sugar fix .. but I do get the crunch ..

I think my Goal this year is to get healthy period .. I have been so outa whack it is not funny .. I want to get my momentum back .. I want to run again .. far .. far as I can go .. you know the feeling .. when you are walking ... and all of a sudden you get that burst of energy to run .. I want that back .. so bad .

I am going to get back into the Gym right after the New Year .. I like you thrive on my fitness level being high .. so back I go ..

Snacking .. it can break us .. I am here for you if you need me .. call me when you want to munch .. we can talk each other down ...

Love you .. and thanks for always motivating us !!

Well, Good Morning Darling................. I hear ya on the snacking...it's a b*tch, ain't it!  I try to keep good stuff in the house because of it, but even that stuff calls to me.  And calories in..calories out..... Yes...you NEED to get healthy this year.  We are all so worried about you.  But...take it slow...slow and steady wins the race.  Get your energy and health up and slowly go back to the gym.  I know* I know...it's hard....but take it easy on your body and your body will be easy on you...... You need to get plenty of sleep (I know....pot..meet kettle) and take a day each week where you lay about in pjs (ok...wash your face and brush you teeth), no cooking, curl up with a good book, turn off the phone, etc. to just unwind.  I did that alot last winter and it really helped keep me going.  And now with the holidays finally over....I'm going back to it.  Need to rest to get the body under control. Ok...off of  my soapbox.  In case we don't chat...have a GREAT New Years! Luv Ya!

Are you crafty at all?  I was thinking if I was having trouble snacking I would need to replace my getting up to get the granola with a non-food related activity to keep my hands busy.  For instance, you could work on a knotted belt...  buy some hemp or a silk cord and some beads and each time you feel the urge to snack, grab the belt and add a few knots and a bead.  Depending on your urges, within a few months you could have a new belt accessory to add to a new outfit!  :)

What a GREAT suggestion.  As a matter of fact, I scrapbook and in order for me to grab a bite, I have to walk ALL the way downstairs.  I just haven't been doing any because I've been so busy lately. But....you have opened the doors to my scrapbook room..... THANKS!

Oh, and my goals for January are to continue through the three solid food progressions, as instructed and to get my clearance to get back into the gym and pool.  I can't wait really.  I've already cleared stopping off at the gym on my way home from work (company vehicle), so I can't avoid not going to the gym.  Now I will just need to muster up my energy stores after a long day to do it.  I just knew that if I went home and had to go back out that I would not do it. I'm also looking forward to January because my husband will be switching jobs and will now be home earlier and hopefully we can get our "regular" life back on track.  He's been traveling to NoVA to work each day and pretty much I was always asleep by the time he got home at 9 or 10pm.  It's been hell on our relationship.  I'll be so relieved to get my happy husband back, instead of the over stressed one who has been snapping at me for months.  :)

Oh...you can TOTALLY do that!  What a GREAT goal.  And I'm like you...if I have to go home and then go back out, it will not happen.  So, if I take a class outside of the home, it has to be on the way home. Because of that, we no longer have a dining room and instead have a gym....so I have no excuses! Happy New Rear To Ya!
