January Challenge and Tips

Hi There Folks........... It's a brand new month and along with it....brand new goals to move us along towards success.  As we all know, this surgery is only part of the picture and we must work the whole program of exercise, nutrition (food, protein  and water) and vitamins in order to get to goal, and to maintain it. However, sometimes, life gets in the way and makes it difficult for us to do the things we are suppose to.  So....here is an opportunity for you to set your goal for the month...write it down...become accountable to that goal....share your tips with others....... My goal for January is to stop the mindless nibbling.  One day down, and it's been great.  Fortunately, I have only 5 pounds (which really isn't anything), but don't want to take the chance of it going larger. So, I went back to basics.....limited carbs, high protein, writing everything down (to be accountable), stay out of the kitchen and only eat at the table.  No eating in front of the tv.  This morning...I was down 2 of those 5 pounds (YEAH!). Ok...so your turn.  What area do you feel like you need some help getting back on track???

Good am Jill - My goal for January is to get back to walking 2-4 miles 3 days per week to start. I was on restricted activities for the last several months of 07 but NOW its ON! Yesterday I did quite a work out! I'm working on creating my daily checklist of things to accomplish which will incorporate the walking among other things.  Enjoy......

RIGHT ON!  What a GREAT goal for the month. Take it slow so as not to hurt yourself.  But you can TOTALLY do this! And I really like the checklist idea.  You may need to share that one further......

Although my diet is fairly routine (same breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks) I'm back to measuring/weighing and "bite it, write it" to make sure my calorie intake is correct.  I need to lose 16.2 pounds to my first goal (achieve BMI of 24.9 - Normal) and I know my weight loss will be much slower these 2nd six months. I also want to try at least one cardio class (perhaps BodyFLOW) to see if my knees can take it. My excuse to now has been the schedule - the class doesn't start until 6:30 pm weekdays - way too late for me because I get off at 3:30 or 4 pm.  They now have a late afternoon class on Saturday and I think I can get to that one.  No more excuses!

Don't know yet -LOL - but if memory serves it's described as less intensive than BodyATTACK and BodyJAM.  It combines some dance, yoga and pilates.  I CANNOT do any step aerobics - I get too dizzy - so this one sounded like I might be able to keep up. I'll let you know if I make it this week.  They have 2 morning classes, 2 evening classes, and a Saturday class.

Ok gotta admit all this talk about staying on track made me feel alittle guilty about eating a happy meal actually 3nuggets n a few fries.. You guys are motivating I think im moving to the right state this fri. I have had absolutly no motivation lately to do anything, I eat like crap I was going to the gym everyday but got tired of that. Now I fly out fri to Richmond and I havent even packed I lay on my bed and look at all my clothes (so far they are not jumping into the bag). Well hopefully next week I can get back on track in between moving and looking for a job..

Welcome to Virginia ! There is all sorts of inspiration on our state board.  Now I'm trying to teleport those clothes into the suitcase for you...let me know how it works! Take a couple protein bars on the plane. Some airports now have Tropical Smoothie restaurants in them--great way to get in more protein!! Hope to see you posting more when you are settled!
